part of a vast maturing rapeseed field completely overrun with wild poppies. I often wonder how the seeds get separated by the farmer at harvest time.

Wind blown poppies.

It is in the brain that the poppy is red, that the apple is odorous, that the skylark sings (Oscar Wilde) !!

It was a rather grey but nevertheless decent light for these poppy images. Lighting was a bit difficult in some views but fairly even in others.

When out for a bike ride last week I was delighted to see that a local farmer had planted a wildflower mix in the set-aside adjacent to his wheat crop.

Actually it was double delight since the only poppies that I had seen up to this point were some mega-sized cultivated ones in the sand dunes at Alnmouth which don't count as wildflowers in my book!

I tried, while not using Bev's tripod, to control the bright sunlight with a flower. It's always a surprise and a real thrill to find one of your images in Explore - thank you for your visits, favourites and comments, all are most appreciated!

A great evening in Walmley, Sutton Coldfield to visit a field of poppies.

The landscape around Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz is characterised by several striking mountains. What they all have in common is that they stand freely all around and do not form spurs or ridges. This area is also known as the "Land der Zeugenberge". A Zeugenberg (inliers and outlieres) is a single mountain in a stratified landscape that has been isolated by erosion from the stratified plateau to which it originally belonged.

This was meant to be just a recce as I favour a good sunset (ok we don't seem to get those atm) but the walk from where you park the car is longer then I expected especially when I've been suffering from a bit of a Lyme flare up this week. However for me poppies are enough of a motivation to shake off any aches and pains!!

The light and shadows I think were enough for me to come away with a couple of shots that weren't completely flat but I do favour that golden light

I hope to return before they go over! And summer where are you?

Driving home one morning and passes this field. Just had to stop to shoot this

It was not easy to come out !
