Fyah Pon Fire is a reggae track I produced & recently added to the multimedia section & soundtrack of my upcoming audio book/film scene project.
The writing, songs & videos I've recently done for the project have assumed a more 'new media' shape that inspired me to recreate most of the book's content into a movie scenes. Details on this coming up soon.
Since about 90% of the plot is based on true events names & locations will be changed to protect the innocent (wink!).
Fyah Pon Fire is a Lovers Rock type of reggae track with a mellow, groovy tropical rhythm guided by a Hammond Organ tune I played on a Yamaha synthesizer keyboard. Flavour is added by typical Jamaican Patois singing by Iriestan while R&B/Pop harmonies are done by our friend Donna. There is also the familiar "Lord Of Mercy!" chants, Afro/Reggae drumming, a dominant bass line plus a Dub Riddim section guaranteed to get you dancing & singing along. Ambassador Daniel Shapiro hosted Professor Robert Mnookin, Director, Harvard Negotiation Research Project, for a Distinguished American Speaker program at his residence on December 9. Prof. Mnookin spoke about his new book, Bargaining With the Devil: When to Negotiate, When to Fight, engaging an audience of 100, which included many Israeli officials who were involved in Israel’s peace negotiations with her neighbors, as well as professors and students of law, conflict resolution, and negotiation, and Wexner Israel program alumni. Following this program, Professor Mnookin conducted a special workshop for a group of Arab and Jewish high school students from Amal Taibe and Amal Lady Davis in Tel Aviv. The workshop was a rare and exciting opportunity for Israeli high school students to meet a world renowned Professor from one of the most prestigious universities in the world. Even though this was a new level of audience for Professor Mnookin, he enjoyed interacting with the young students while demonstrating various negotiation techniques and applicable methods for teaching mutually satisfying agreements in all facets of life. The workshop also gave the group an opportunity to meet with a distinguished academic and practice new and creative communication skills in English. This ‘exceptional’ workshop was adjunct to a larger program supported by a small PD grant which brought together 180 Arab and Jewish students from 6 high schools to learn negotiation skills.

After an extremely successful pilot program last year, Public Diplomacy Tel Aviv supported bringing together another 180 Jewish and Arab 16-year old students from 3 Arab schools and 3 Jewish schools to learn how to communicate and negotiate with one another. The workshops included mixed groups of Amal Network students from Tel Aviv, Taibe, Nahariya, Daburiya, Beersheva and Hura. The six workshops were coordinated with the Amal Network and Dr. Shula Gilad, Senior Fellow from the Program on Negotiation, Harvard Law School and facilitated by local trainers. The workshops were conducted in English and were specifically tailored for the Arab and Jewish high school students. The content steered away from political issues and focused on generic negotiation techniques and communication skills which can be applied to practical real life situations. Friendships were made between Arabs and Jews, and it was a rare opportunity for students who almost never come into contact with one another, to visit each other’s schools’, explore elements of commonality, and practice their English. The students received certificates of participation from the Harvard Negotiation Project and the Amal Network.
