It's a Western Honey Bee, I believe. And this little creature was definitely doing its job; it was one of many bees that were moving rapidly from blossom to blossom in a patch of wild asters.

Happy Wing Wednesday

It was a gloomy, overcast day off that I had a few days ago... When in doubt, I wander with the macro lens on and see what happens haha.

From my archives: I always enjoy seeing bees at work and this one chose some lovely flowers to gather pollen from.

I appreciate your views and comments, thank you! Have a great day and week!

Macro shot using 11 mm extension tube. I was photographing flowers when this bee arrived. I had to get quite close with the extension tube so I was pleased I managed to get a well focused shot.

"The pedigree of honey does not concern the bee; A clover, any time, to him is aristocracy."

When weeding in my flower garden, I used to see white clover flowers as weeds. However, white clovers are a great source of nectar and pollen for honey bees. The plant flowers from May to September, and its long blooming period attracts bees and other pollinators. White clover is also high in nectar sugar, so bees often visit it before other nectar sources.

As always, many thanks for taking the time to view, fave and comment. That's very much appreciated

Stay safe!

I'm looking forward to seeing bees and blooms this coming season, bring them on!

Thank you for your views and comments, much appreciated! Have a great day!

Sunset across the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge shows off the inviting flora for pollinators, July 7, 2023.

When taking pictures the other day of a wild orchid (Bonatea Antennifera - Grassveld Woodorchid) I noticed these little structures glued to my hand. Asking people in the know I discovered that these orchids have a strong scent in the evening, attracting Hawkmoths. When the orchid flower senses a moth it releases this structure called a pollinium with pollen at the one end and glue at the other end. It sticks to the moth's eye and off he/she goes to another plant, performing pollination. The flower did not realize though that I'm not a moth.

La pollinisation est au cœur de la nature et de ses processus de reproduction.

Tiny flecks of pollen fall from a blossom as a female broad-tailed hummingbird does her thing.

I really miss seeing and hearing them!
