Photographed in my yard. This bird is a frequent visitor to my hummingbird feeder. The hummingbirds don't challenge him like they challenge each other. They politely wait for him to leave. He only stays for about 15 to 20 seconds so they don't have to wait long. IMG_1296

It is very cold here with a lot of new snow. I have been thinking about how nice it will be to photograph butterflies again. The butterfly images I will post are from last summer from files I didn’t work on because I already had posted good shots of the species.

In a few cases, later I got as good or better shots of already posted species, so I decided to work on some favorites until I feel like venturing out again.

“But there was something else going on here. He had to admit even to himself that the woman challenged his intellect and his beliefs with her own, and she wasn’t afraid to disagree with him or to disapprove of his views. Nor did she make any attempt to school her sentiments behind the polite, prim, and proper demeanor of the typical English noblewoman. She was fierce. She was passionate. She was fiery and intense. She was like no other woman he had ever met.

And suddenly, just like that, he was under her spell once again.”

In Glasgow, Scotland, there is a charming & fascinating little museum called Tenement House that allows you to enter a time warp that allows you to experience life in a four room flat in the early 20th century. Home to a shorthand typist, Miss Agnes Toward and her dressmaker mother, it is perfectly preserved. Viewing the table set for tea, I felt like I was journeying back in time before an ignorant buffoon like Donald Trump could ever have been called our president. I long for the end of this nightmare that has descended on my country and pray for our national deliverance before too much damage is done.

i got bored...with "lovely" face, polite mimics, with closet mouth - I like this shot so much :)) it reminds me one of my very old self portraits with wide opened eyes ( ----> )that made me giggle for a year...Oh well :)) sorry for fooling around...hehe

BOO!

" It started small and polite,

something easy to ignore.

A clean room, a quiet promise,

then a change in the air.

The walls stayed spotless,

the surface stayed calm,

but the smell underneath

kept getting brave.

You don’t notice the spread

when it wears good manners.

You don’t hear the teeth

when the bite is slow.

It doesn’t break the door.

It moves in.

Infested, under the skin of the day,

breathing through routine.

Infested, in the soft places,

where comfort turns obscene.

The body stays presentable,

the mind stays “fine,”

and the rot learns timing

like it’s trained.

Guilt arrives with clean hands,

shame arrives dressed to match.

Everything ugly gets renamed

until it sounds like growth.

Desire gets fed in private,

then paraded as control.

The same mouth that preaches restraint

can swallow anything whole.

Nothing feels infected at first,

it feels familiar.

That’s why it wins

without raising its voice.

The worst things don’t chase.

They settle.

Infested, under the skin of the day,

quiet enough to keep.

Infested, in the background,

where secrets learn to breathe.

You keep moving like nothing changed,

while something inside rearranges

what “normal” means.

Purity is a costume.

Take it off and watch people relax.

The truth doesn’t hurt most—

it disgusts.

LET IT CRAWL

Infested, and still functioning,

still smiling on cue.

The room stays bright,

the story stays clean,

and the infection stays useful.

The real horror isn’t that something moved in, it’s that it found everything already prepared for it and simply started living there like it belonged ... "

This one is from the Upper Antelope Canyon.

A perfect place to hone not only your photography skills but manage your gear, exposures, focus and temper with all that will be going around you! There will be people who just wouldn't care coming between the lens with their shiny mobile phones clicking every wall and curve. Sometimes it gets nerve racking and you won't come out as a polite person after an hour inside. Just a bitter photographer wanting of more! :)

Nonetheless, the canyon offers that none other place what I have seen or visited would.

This turn is popularly know as the wall of fire. Here people have taken some iconic images that are difficult to take your eyes off. Mine is just a humber offering to the this and in no way could reflect what you actually experience. Thus the best way is to visit.

Lastly, don't give in to the crowd and even if you come out with a dozen good shots, its a good feat! Hope you are not annoyed with the ramblings on my photographs! :)

As already mentioned, during my visit to Vietnam, I got up a few times shortly after 5 o'clock in the morning to capture the awakening day. Once I met a Buddhist mendicant monk who was walking in front of a blue gate in his orange robe. I thought this was worth a recording. Of course, I slipped him a few dongs. He thanked politely, walked a few steps further, then stopped again and made a gesture of praying and blessing. I related the blessing to myself and thought that it would make my day good.

Polite notice........should people still need reminding?

to speak with mouth full LoL. When I go to this one spot the water fowl can be so close I can touch them. Most know me. Often the Mom & Dad goose will bring me their young to feed. They luv their corn. This beauty was dredching bottom of pond (real close) for good food.

He is unlike any of my other cats. He is not rugged and rough and ready like Charlie or the tabby boys but he does try.

I think he wants to be included so will play with the tabby boys.

I have a fishing game I play with them all and have played with every new cat. I have a fishing rob and put a gel bait on the end. The cats love it and if I have the time they will chase it for hours.

It's a good way to mingle all the cats as well as they are too busy playing they they forget about each other.

What i find funny about this game is they take it in turns. If one cat is chasing the lure the others wait until it is their go and I place the lure in front of them, which I think is pretty cool and awfully polite.

I got to go on the roof! Sunday night I saw the tabby neighbor cat on the roof. The Human layered in sweaters and took me out on the leash! I was very polite and relaxed but the tabby was scared and growled and hissed. I kept being nice with my tail in the air and I did not growl or hiss or swat. He did not want to do nose bumps with me though 😪

Then yesterday a mini Human visited with her mum. Usually I flee but this one was only a few months old and it did not make noise so I stayed in the room. I let her lay on my blanket on my sofa and the Human was really proud of me. When they came to say goodbye to me they came too close to my cardboard box though and I jumped off the table the box is on and sat on the floor.

I get wiser and calmer as I age, the Humans say.

Despite it being one of the most popular sights in Canyonlands National Park, Utah, the small crowd of visitors that day was as patient and polite as could be, each person or group standing back until it was their turn to look or take a photograph.

What fascinated me about this arch was that the two legs of the arch are actually separated by a distance of a few inches from the face of the cliff that supports all that weight. It seems only a matter of time (next week, or next millennium, maybe?) until the entire arch falls into a heap on the canyon floor. Go see it while you can!

Walking alone next to the river in the pleasant Romanian city Oradea, is a great way to relax and experience the beauty of nature. The river that runs through the city is the Crișul Repede, a tributary of the Danube. The people of Oradea are friendly and welcoming, making it an ideal place for travelers from all around the world who want to take a break from their busy lives. Take some time to appreciate the natural beauty around you. Listen to the sounds of the flowing river and the birds singing in the trees. And if you're a fan of 8D music, be sure to bring your earphones along for the journey - they will add an extra layer of relaxation and calmness to your experience. What I experienced yesterday, I now describe as a scene from a movie script. I consider every experience as a scene that can be added to the movie story of someones life.

FADE IN:

EXT. ORADEA, ROMANIA - DAY

We see a short man of Indian descent mid 40's with a clean-shaven, shiny head walking along the river in the Romanian city of Oradea. The sun shines bright in the sky, and the man wears a wireless set of headphones on his ears. As the camera comes closer, we hear the sounds of Italo Disco and deep house music coming from his headphones. For this occasion he created his own 8D remix of Italo Disco and deep house songs the day before in his hotel room on his laptop. His face shows a sense of peerless satisfaction and relaxation. When the camera zooms in, we recognize the man with the Asian appearance. It is none other than the one and only Marco (Mathew) Monster from the Rotterdam region in The Netherlands. Marco walks, enjoying every step, taking deep breaths, and absorbing the beautiful surroundings around him. A group of friendly female Romanian locals is chatting nearby in the grass, and they make eye contact with the Dutch Lion from Goa. Upon seeing him alone, the women invite him to join in their conversation. Marco can't stop smiling as he interacts with them, exchanging greetings and politely turning down their invitations to join them for their social gathering. Because no matter how beautiful these ladies looked, the little adventurer always has his own spiritual agenda during his chosen walks. In keeping with his own tradition, he once again revealed his funny surname Monster when saying goodbye so that he will never be forgotten by the people he meets. Marco walks away, and the camera shifts to a distance. The picturesque view of the river with the magnificent cloud formations above and its surrounding area is nothing short of breathtaking. The peaceful atmosphere with the music in his ears fills him with satisfaction and tranquility. As the music progresses, so does the rhythm in his steps. The melody of his 8D remix and the sound of the river accompany him as he continues his walk, creating a scene of pure serenity.

Helen is another of the cows I don't have much to do with but have noticed she is quite and polite.

She has recently had a calf and she will often take her calf away if I come by to take photos, so I am pretty sure that is her way of telling me to bugger off.

I enjoy taking portraits and I am particularly fascinated by smiles. All of them! Whilst some are easier to interpret than others, not all of them represent happiness and I’m sure that this enigmatic facial expression has been the subject of hundreds of studies...

I’ve been thinking about trying to categorise some of my portraits into the various smile ‘categories’. I’m certain that I’ll be wrong on the nuance and I’m also aware, particularly after reading the opinion of the great Garry Winogrand, that photography provides very little context.

But here I go with my first. I think this is an affiliative smile - a smile trying to express acknowledgement and tolerance. What do you think?

Here are some of the smile types :)

- The Reward Smile

- The Dominance Smile

- The Lying Smile

- The Wistful Smile

- The Polite Smile

- The Flirtatious Smile

- The Embarrassed Smile

- The Pan Am Smile

- The Smug Smile

- The Mona Lisa ‘Mysterious’

- The Sneer

And the gold standard of smiles - The Duchenne Smile
