On the last morning of our holiday in Cornwall I took the opportunity to get up early and wander down to Newlyn Harbour. Of course early for me isn't early for the fishermen of Newlyn. Although I actually missed sunrise, the sun was still pretty spectacular.
There's something about the sea and the honesty of a living earnt from it.

This is a portrait shot of my good friend Axel. We had a refreshment after our black forest tour.
Have fun!

Polaroid Automatic 230 Land Camera with my favourite instant film Fuji FP 3000B and the portrait lens attached.
I only have an old Plustek scanner, so the image quality is not the best.

Welcome, welcome, welcome! I’m super excited to bring you all the work of Abigail Crone, instant film shooter extraordinaire and curator of the Film Shooters Collective Monthly Polaroid Roundup (amongst other awesome things).
There’s a lot to cover, so I’ll hand straight over...

Every since i've lived in Sydenham - over two years now - this place has been empty. The chances of it selling now?

A week or so ago Anderspace (http://www.flickr.com/photos/anderspace/) brought over a Polaroid 230 Land Camera that he'd picked up at an estate sale. I finally got around to getting a 4.5v battery for it (actually 3 1.5v batteries) and set about loading a pack of "super speedy" Fuji FP-3000b film. Almost none of it came out. This shot, the best of 6, was taken in nearly broad daylight. For film this fast, that should have been far too much light, rather than too little so I obviously have some work to do getting this camera to work. Anyway, I thought the "negative" side of the image looked nicer than the positive, I darkened the scan a bit and here you go.
"Peter, the phallic boys
Begin to wink their lights.
Godrevy and the Wolf
Are calling Opening Time.
We'll take the quickest way
The tin singers made.
Climb here where the hand
Will not grasp on air.
And that dark-suited man
Has set the dominoes out
on the Queen's table.
Peter, we'll sit and drink
And go in the sea's road
To Labrador with wallis
Or rise on Lanyon's stair. "
Lighthouse keeper. Now there's a job. Two views of Godrevy from land and sea.

It's a Polaroid 230 Land Camera! It's in awesome condition, it's really clean and it seems like everything works. It also came with the original manual, and a "Polaroid Cold Clip" for developing. I got it at Salvation Army for a whopping $3! Woo!
I can't order film til next week though, sadly. I'm pretty freaking psyched though, I haven't played with peel-apart polaroids since school. :)
I find that a polaroid adds a touch of pathos to almost any domestic scene.

Most of you will know that dicksdaily is the name of my photoblog. Well today (in fact yesterday but I had to scan in the polaroid) it reached the grand old age of eight.
Dicksdaily is and always was, primarily, a diary. Essentially it was created so that I would take a picture everyday which would force me to take a camera with me everywhere (In effect dicksdaily is 8x365 project.)
Where most of my projects seem to fizzle out, I have somehow managed to keep dicksdaily going although I infrequently get to update the site on a daily basis.
Anyway - enough of slapping myself on the back ... normal service to resume soon.

At last a picture taken today - and taken on my brand new (well brand new to me that is) Polaroid 230 Land Camera. I bought one off ebay a while back (a 250) spent a small fortune on film and a battery all to find out that it didn't work.
Managed to get this one, in a lot worse condition for £2.50 + p&p and as you can see this one works. So I'm rather pleased with myself, i've wanted one of these for a loooooong old time.
