These pods have been falling for the last week or two. We had a particularly hot day yesterday, and it seems to have accelerated this process.

Today is the last day I have to work outside this week, and Oh Thank Heaven because it's supposed to be less than 10 degrees tomorrow. Here's a picture of the Johns Hopkins University campus I took while trying to warm up in the truck.
This looks a little "2001: A Space Odyssey" to me. Each pod fits 5 people. If you are tall, sit in the seat at the back, you'll have a little more room. The pod ride has been described as a ride in a washing machine. You move up and then across and then up and then across. It's part elevator, part escalator, and part roller coaster. The ride coming down is 30 seconds shorter than the ride doing up, and it feels like it.

The ancient Carnival held in the village of Podence is one of the most important traditional events of northern Portugal. The strong participation of the local community that has managed to preserve this tradition for centuries and its current importance in the region's cultural events were crucial factors for UNESCO to classify the Carnival of Podence as Intangible World Heritage.
During Carnival, the “devilish” figures of the Caretos - men, boys, women and girls wearing masks and costumes with colourful fringes, with masks made of tin or leather and bells attached around the waist - roam the streets of Podence making lots of noise to disturb the usual peace and quiet of the village.
Originally the Caretos were linked with the figure of the “devil on the loose” and represented the excesses, euphoria, and joy allowed at this time of year, after the cold winter months, while also celebrating the fertility of the approaching spring.

La campaña de este año subraya la importancia de asignar recursos financieros y de apoyo a estrategias de prevención de la violencia de género. Su colaboración es crucial para garantizar la seguridad y el bienestar de las mujeres y fortalecer nuestra sociedad.

I spun this so I could knit a long cowl version of the BFF seed pod on knitty www.knitty.com/ISSUEdf12/PATTbff.php, that can be twisted and wrapped over the head twice like the gaptastic cowl. I just love knitting this pattern. Fibers from multiple sources, gifts, swaps, and myself. Very soft and lots of sparkle.
O deputado Bruno Ganem, do Podemos São Paulo, participou do lançamento da Frente Parlamentar de Proteção às Pessoas Autistas. The Rappaports were nice enough to have me over for Passover Seder tonight.
It was a lovely family gathering and I was honored to be included. I didn't have to read Hebrew nor did I have to sing. I had just to participate the best I could, enjoy wonderful conversation, and consume absolutely delicious food.
I have a weakness for matzah ball soup, just like "Z-Man" here. And, tonight's was some of the best that I have had. The traditions warmed my heart (as did the soup) even though they were not my own. I am not part of the Rappaport family by blood, but I appreciate it very much that they pretended tonight.
Another stages in the milkweed pod story. The pods are opening and more seeds will be blowing around, but this stage is rather pretty. No invites to new groups please..
