The beautiful Plush-crested Jays are quite common in the woodlands around Iguazu Falls. It has a beautiful contrast of colors from its rounded black crest, black head and crest opposed to its yellow eyes and a bright blue eyebrow and nape. It also has a white belly and a blue and white tail.

Two or three helpers take part in nesting duties and defense against predators. It is found in central-southern South America, in southwestern Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, and northeastern Argentina, including southern regions of the Amazon Basin river systems bordering the Pantanal (BirdLife International, 2018).
