Going back through some earlier photos from this year that were never posted. We sure had a great time in Pittsburgh!

Pittsburgh Skyline from Mount Washington. (12/18/2022)

Sunrise from the North Shore

Foggy morning in Pittsburgh.

Rail Bridge. Allengheny River.

Pittsburgh from the West End Overlook. (11/25/2019)

Both of these taken Sunday morning. I was there to shoot my "classic black and gold" photos, but ended up seeing a pretty awesome sunrise, too.

In this version, the sky has formed some colors but isn't yet bright enough to wash out the city lights. The city lights are still very vibrant and reflect brightly against the dark river. The clouds frame the buildings perfectly.

Final photo to follow later today...

3-photo HDR. Zoom in for a better view.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: “City of Bridges,” with 446 bridges, more than any other city in the world, and three rivers, the Allegheny, the Monongahela, and the two rivers meet to form the Ohio River.

4 shot panorama of Pittsburgh, PA .

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's Mount Washington offers spectacular views of the city's downtown area and its surroundings.

My third attempt at sunset from the Crawford-Roberts District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Don't forget to zoom in, this is an incredibly detailed pano. (Or view in even higher detail on my pano viewer.)

Happy Tree-mendous Thursday

Photos of Pittsburgh from the 31st St Bridge this morning.

There was a row boat team rowing away this morning

This is a subject I return to often (e.g. flic.kr/p/Amvev4, flic.kr/p/j9TGba, flic.kr/p/Amvev4). Bride's Row is a row of townhouses leading up to the trompe-l'oeil mural, "Bride on Penn Avenue." Someone bought them several years ago, apparently saving them from certain condemnation and demolition. One of them had already burned. Since then nothing has been done to maintain or improve the properties. The burned one was recently demolished. The two depicted here cannot be too far behind. This is a neighborhood with generally good prospects, where many other positive changes have been taking place. Seeing these beautiful structures disappear is sad, even for me, drawn as I am to subjects of degradation, decay, and loss.

HFF at Point Park...:))

While I love the purple shots from Saturday, this is more my style. Clear, black sky with gold lighting. (The gold effect is caused by sodium vapor lamps across the city.)

I managed to get two shots like this before first light, one at 100mm and another at 135mm.

3-photo HDR. Very slight crop to fix level. I really need to buy a better gimbal for the 100-500 that levels more accurately.

ZOOM THE F/ IN!
