Picture jaspers exhibit combinations of patterns resulting in what appear to be scenes or images, when seen on a cut section. Such patterns include banding from flow or depositional patterns (from water or wind), as well as dendritic or color variations. While these "picture jaspers" can be found all over the world, specific colors or patterns are unique to the geographic region from which they originate.

Picture yourself in a world where you wanna be

World of felicity

world you can see yourself in

In a world of humanity

Freed from Insanity

A world where you wanna be.

The snow was trying to make an appearance today but just wasn't working hard enough. The higher elevations did have a fresh powdering of the white stuff.

At Quarry bank mill

Today we visited the National trust properties and gardens at Quarry bank mill, Wilmslow.

It didn’t rain, which was a real bonus; and there were some wonderful buildings to see.

Tracey and our friends had a tour of one of the houses… meanwhile Herb and I had a good walk back to the car for some water.

A really interesting place …

A common picture to see these days. The forests are disappearing under the saws of corporations, leaving nothing but desolation. In a few years, our children will know the forest only from books. And photos from the internet...

All buy souvenirs. In the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius many shops and kiosks, and about the walls of the monastery a great many interesting things: pictures, dolls, hand-embroidered clothing and much more.

Thank you for your incredible eye to detail and your ability to stay still for me to sneak a picture of you while you were no doubt doing so yourself.

God I hope he doesn't mind.

Long grass and fireweed in bloom frame the great reflecting mirror that is Picture Lake, with its classic view of the glacier-clad Mount Shuksan, in the northern reaches of Washington state.

Thanks very much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, wherever in the world you might be.

My favourite staircase at the historic Mail Exchange building in Melbourne. This was my third trip to these stairs, but this time with a 14mm lens to get a little wider perspective. Only (what I hadn't counted on) once you correct for the rather massive distortion of the Samyang lens I suspect i'm back around 16mm - same as my previous shots ... i'm still happy with the results though with the wonderful afternoon sunlight streaming in on an angle through the door below.

This shot is actually the same image as my earlier "The Entrance" - which was heavily cropped from this image. This shows the 'big picture' and grandeur of the staircase with the details of the man making his entrance in his own personal beam of sunlight almost going unnoticed.

Titterstone Clee Hill, but it reminds me of Meteor Crater in Arizona, which of course is bigger because it is in the USA

Mmmm. Not much difference between this and the shot with the Nikon. One is much heavier than the other. And the phone is provided free by work. But no one will know I'm a photographer unless I have a brick in my hand and a tripod. Who's going to say "Nice phone" instead of "Nice camera"? Will I need to get a badge or get the words "PHOTOGRAPHER" emblazoned on the back of my coat?
