The piano tuner condemned my piano. It cannot be tuned. The cost to replace pins etc would be more than the piano is worth. It was a gift from my husband more than 20 years ago. He bought it used (it was probably built in 1958 according to the piano bluebook website). I am o.k. with saying goodbye. A new one is not that costly considering it would outlast any new camera or computer I would buy. I also think it is time to learn a new instrument. But, what do I do with a condemned piano? The tuner recommended that I dismantel it some so that no one would be tempted to rescue it from the dump. I think I could use it for an incredible photo op... bonfire, catapult, flower pot... Any ideas out there? Suggestions welcomed.

- From Romeo and Juliet

The most perfect little music box, in the shape of a grand piano. And it plays the theme song of Romeo and Juliet - oh, the irony...

I absolutely love it. It couldn't be any more perfect.

I had a good day today.

(73/365) My Photo of the Day for Monday, August 22nd!

One more of the piano house. I took this photo on the same day I did the sunrise photos and from approximately the same spot. I love how the sky rendered on this image. If you compare this image with either of the color photos, you nearly can't see any cloud cover in those photos, but in IR, even the whispy, upper-level clouds pop. This may be my favorite shot of this location (so far).

This emulsion is super delicate though. I very gently squeegee my negs when I pull them out of the tank because I hate water spots. On this entire roll, there was a massive drag mark where the wet squeegee pulled significant emulsion right off of the base. It was a linear structure, but was fairly wide. Luckily it was located in the sky region and it was not hard to remove in Photoshot - took a lot of time though.
