This is a first for me: a Great White Egret fishing along the bank of the Speed River in Guelph, Ontario. It was challenging to get the shot without spooking him, as there were a lot of branches and bushes between us. © COLIN MCCLEAVE

The Salar de Uyuni in the Andes in southwestern Bolivia is the largest salt pan on earth. A prehistoric, dried up lake almost 11.000 m².
Larger surface area than e.g. Lower Bavaria. The brine under the surface reaches up to 72m, possibly 121m in depth. With glistening brightness, it resembles a frozen lake, is almost devoid of any kind of living beings.
