It is only our 2nd day in Philadelphia, as guests of Flickr friend, Sharon and her husband, John. But we have filled our time with so many photographic opportunities.
Including some nighttime shots taken behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
We spent nearly the whole day in the Eastern State Penitentiary; a marvelous old landmark closed to prisoners since 1971, but open to tourists.
If you are a photographer, be sure to do both things: the prison, and Boathouse Row. You will be thrilled with the photo ops. I promise.
And then, you simply must stop by a Rita's for a Gelati, composed of custard and flavored water ice. (I am not leaving here unless I can find a supplier of these delicious dessert treats.)
One more day in Philly, and then it's off to see Peter in Washington.
Blessings,
Sheree

Philadelphia’s streets were once all paved with cobblestone. From 1830 to 1884 most of the streets remained cobblestone. However, due to new trends and availability of other paving materials, today most of the cobblestone streets are gone.
The six years Edgar Allan Poe lived in Philadelphia were his happiest and most productive. Poe also struggled with bad luck, personal demons and his wife’s illness. In Poe’s humble home, reflect on the human spirit surmounting crushing obstacles, and celebrate Poe’s astonishing creativity.
