It was an early morning start and the low clouds continued to pass over, at times completely blanketing the lost city of the Inca's but fortunately there were also moments like this one.

These are so pretty in the garden and even nicer in a vase. I have two colours in the garden, pink and red.
Taken on a nine day backpacking trek around the Huayhuash circuit in Peru. A bit of a grim day for trekking but enjoyable for photography.
The Peruvian Lilies from my Christmas flowers.
If you have any of the Lily family of flowers in your house and also have a cat(s) beware. They are highly toxic / lethal to cats and they only need to ingest a tiny amount to kill them.
Better viewed large, and thank you for your favourites. :)
Amazing how the Inca's built this city and even more amazing the Spanish didn't find it. Wonderful to be there...20160804_Peru 2016_3159
Ten days ago I received a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers from my hubby. The flowers lasted a long time but today I need to separate the best of the bunch and discard the blooms that are spent. The Peruvian Lilies have stayed the freshest and I will arrange them in a new vase with some foliage. They really do brighten up my day.

Small, plump bird with stout bill. Male mostly lime green with contrasting yellow belly and thin blue collar on nape and blue rump; some populations entirely blue above. Female similar but duller, with greener belly. Usually seen in pairs or small flocks, often in association with a fruiting tree. Forages at all levels, most frequently in the canopy.
This one was photographed in Northern Peru led by Neotropic Photo Tours and our Peruvian local guide for this portion of the trip; Fisher Chávez of Perú Nature Photography.

We were quite surprised to know that close to Lima, the capital city of Peru was a desert town of Ica. This desert has a small oasis call Huacachina. Though full of tourists, foreign and local, we spent a couple of fun days here. Climbing up the sand dunes and sand boarding down.
I am spending the next few days in the Cusco, Machu Picchu area of Peru. It was a very long day flying yesterday and adapting to 16 hrs difference from Australia. Today, we flew to Cusco, climbed from 3,400m to 3,800m to the village of Chincheros for Incan handicrafts before descending to the city of Urumbamba for overnight. The high altitudes are affecting me a bit, but it is tolerable so long as one goes gently and drinks lots of water.
Day 18 of 31. Though it felt like Day 17 was extra long due to time zone changes.
