Perth, Ontario.
Driving back to Cobourg from Kemptville, Ontario.
We got slightly lost at one point and ended up taking a break in Perth, where we wandered around the town and Stewart Park.
Stewart Park is a five-acre green space on the Tay River in Perth. One of the Seven Wonders of Lanark County, the park straddles both Cockburn Island and Haggart Island and is the town‘s most distinctive landmark. Fun Fact: From 1839 to 1916, the park was home to a distillery operated in its latter years by John Alexander Stewart, a prominent figure in Perth’s history. Stewart’s wife, Jessie Stewart, donated the land in 1947 to the town in memory of her husband with the condition that it solely be used for relaxation and enjoyment.
Park highlights include a walking trail, mature trees, open spaces, two walking bridges, various stream and rock formations.
