There is a flood control wall at the Southern end of North Inch with flood control gates, the gates each have a relief image on them and there are also bronze tablets with images on the walls.

Perth was originally founded by Captain James Stirling in 1829 as the administrative centre of the Swan River colony. It gained city status in 1856. The city is named after Perth in Scotland.
