Being a mentor means guiding, supporting, and inspiring a mentee to achieve personal or professional growth while fostering a trusting and transformative relationship.
This young lady has allowed me to be a part of her life since she joined a program I managed when she was a freshman in high school. She has grown to be an incredible young woman. She has an outstanding career, continued her education and earned a master's degree in law and is now an amazing mom. I could not be prouder of her. I tell her all the time thank you for allowing me to walk this journey with you. I appreciate her for listening to my words of guidance when she asked. {Random Thought 3.8.26}
Walking a path through the forest isn't always as easy as this. In fact, very often we discover no true path exists and we have a choice to make...
Do we give up? Do we keep looking for a path already made? Or do we strike out to make our own path?
So much of the time we dream of success and encounter a sea of forest impeding our way. It's easy to get lost, so we seek a path someone else has already carved. And when we don't find one, most give up.
Look, no one said it would ever be easy, but the goal is just on the other side! What's stopping you from reaching it? A little hard work?
Eventually you'll have to make your own path through life's forests. But I guarantee you this... When you look back from the other side, you'll realize how much stronger you became as a result, and when you achieve your goals, you'll admit it was worth it.
Sometimes there will be a clear path in front of you, and sometimes you'll have to make one yourself. The only real question you have to ask yourself is...

Progress equals change and changes demand to give up a cozy seat. When we alter, we shift away from the known, the familiar and the secure. We decide to leave behind a part of life which shaped us to this point. But while this farewell still hurts and confuse us, we may enjoy the beautiful opportunity on our way to discover the possibilities which the new has to offer.

Why is it that the beginning of the year always feels electrical with the excitement of *this year* being the one where you achieve all of your most important goals? Like most people, starting on New Year's, I spend time thinking about my goals, write many of them down, and start taking action. While I am happy with the progress I've made in the past, I've had the feeling that many of my goals seem to lose momentum after a few months. Starting a couple months ago I began researching how I could effectively be reminded about my goals on a daily basis, but not be overwhelmed by tons of information or underwhelmed by boring goals written on a piece of paper.
