We went out west to see a land of red. But with the recent rains across the southern interior of the Australian continent, it was green and flowers in bloom everywhere ... except at Perry Sandhills. It's a little patch of red sandhills popular with the locals in the Mildura / Wentworth area and of course any tourists out that way. I finally got to see just a slightly large expanse of red dirt.
Peregrine Falcon
Before the big storm, you can always find the peregrines hanging out at this pole. I found it funny, even after the storm and his pole was knocked down, he still returned.

Not only is Perry Woods a beautiful place to walk but it is the place we go to gather Cob and Sweet Chestnuts for our Christmas nut puree and brittle to serve in cakes and to sandwich between meringue and for roasting over on open fire in the garden on bombfire night.....
I fell in love with Perry, a slightly dappled older horse discovered in a Maine pasture. I photographed him for years. This whimsy was created for the Animal Farm challenge in the Challenges Group.

This building was built in the 1840's by Mr George Shenton, many years before Mr Perry's time, however, it is now known as Perry's Cottage.
Perry's Cottage is located in Perry's Paddock, named after John (Jack) Perry who bred racehorses and held race meets on his property at the site. The ruins that are still visible are the remains of his old stables and homestead. Part of the Yellagonga Regional Park, there are many walking and cycle paths that are open all year round.

Depending on which backroad I take I sometimes see this old weathered barn. The farmer uses it for storage. I guess the roof doesn't leak.

Point Perry is a headland in Coolum on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. Turtles, Dolphins and whales can often be seen in the clear waters from the rocky coast.
