Vinca grows in a couple spots in our yard, keeping the bare earth covered all year but the tiny purple flowers awaken early in Spring.
All faves, comments, awards and invitation are alway appreciated. Thank you for taking a look!

Vinca Minor or Periwinkle. A sprawling ground cover plant.
This is a garden escapee found at the top of an old disused railway embankment close to where there once used to be a signal box serving the old goods yard.
An incoming tide, brings water over the rocks in a well worn path. If you look carefully the masses of blue periwinkles (austrolittorina unifasciata) are retreating to higher ground and crevices
Vinca is a genus of flowering plants in the family Apocynaceae, native to Europe, northwest Africa and southwest Asia. The English name periwinkle is shared with the related genus Catharanthus (and also with the common seashore mollusc, Littorina littorea). Vinca plants are subshrubs or herbaceous, and have slender trailing stems 1–2 m long but not growing more than 20–70 cm above ground; the stems frequently take root where they touch the ground, enabling the plant to spread widely. The leaves are opposite, simple broad laneolate to ovate, 1–9 cm long and 0.5–6 cm broad; they are evergreen in four species, but deciduous in the herbaceous V. herbacea, which dies back to the root system in winter. The flowers, produced through most of the growing season, are salverform (like those of Phlox), simple, 2.5–7 cm broad, with five usually violet (occasionally white) petals joined together at the base to form a tube. The fruit consists of a pair of divergent follicles; the dry fruit dehisces along one rupture site to release seeds. 20471
Vinca major, with the common names bigleaf periwinkle, large periwinkle, greater periwinkle and blue periwinkle, is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae, native to the western Mediterranean. Growing to 25 cm tall and spreading indefinitely, it is an evergreen perennial, frequently used in cultivation as groundcover. Vinca major is a trailing vine, spreading along the ground and rooting along the stems to form dense masses of groundcover individually 2–5 m across and scrambling up to 50–70 cm high. This species is found in southern Europe and northern Africa, from Spain and southern France east to the western Balkans, and also in northeastern Turkey and the western Caucasus. These are also found in lower Himalayan ranges in Asia. It prefers moist undergrowth, woodlands, hedgerows and banks along the rivers at an altitude of 0–800 metres above sea level. It grows well in full sun and in deep shade. 4107

This capture is beyond my expectations.
I personally love the wavy shades of the back petals,
which create such an amazing pleasant effect.

Do you ever feel like it's the small things in life that can be the most fascinating? Meet this tiny (only a couple of mm) blue periwinkle, living its best life on a rock at the beach. Proof that you don't need to be big to make a splash! 🐚✨
Did I ever mention I used to work in a calendar factory, but I got fired. All I did was take a few days off.
Happy Thursday everyone!
I like the pentagon shape in the middle of the flower. 5-fold symmetry, for sure.
Thank you for looking. Isn't God a great artist?
