“No more chimping” – Hans ter Horst isn’t the first person to have said that and her certainly won’t be the last. But, as advice from a veteran photographer who came from film, went to digital and came back, it’s advice to listen to.

In context, “Cover...

Pentacon FM vom Oktober 1959

Shutter tends to fade from 1/250 :(

My grandpa gave me this a few days ago. It's one of the first SLRs. It's more than 50 years old!

This is the first camera with innert aperture triggering - transmission within the camera body, first "real" automatic diaphragm, 1956.

To all Contax fans: Currently I am collecting serial numbers (inside the camera) and fabrication numbers (on the back) to find out details about the production at Zeiss Ikon Dresden. I would be glad if you contribute and tell me the data of your Contax cameras. Thanks.

This was a triple experiment for me:

(1) first roll of film through my Pentacon F (an improved Contax S)

(2) first use of a hand held light meter (a Yashica Yem 35)

(3) first use of my zebra Zeiss Pancolar 50mm f1.8. I'd previously been put off by the yellowing of one of the elements, but the results are quite surprising.
