The Pelicans at Beaumaris Lake here in Edmonton are providing us with many great photo ops. I posted two images.

It's just a normal pelican, nothing special, but I was so happy to finally be able to go to the zoo again.

Es ist nur ein normaler Pelikan, nichts besonderes, aber ich war so glücklich, endlich wieder mal in den Zoo gehen zu können.
The Australian Pelican has the longest bill of any living bird. This Pelican was riding the updraughts at Red Point, Port Kembla.
I thought the Pelicans might have left during the cold front but they are still here. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

The pelicans iin St James`s ark London have been moved to a safe area following the recent outbreak of bird flu. This solitary one must have escaped!
Australian pelicans.
The pelican on the left has the deep pink beak of a bird in courting mode. The bird on the right has the pale pink beak of a bird not in courting mode. Interesting how this is also illustrated by the reaction of the one on the right to the advances of the one on the left.

I love these beautiful pelicans! I was at a local lake and they were everywhere in the water. When the sun came out from behind the clouds, they started flying. What a beautiful sight.
American Pelicans of both sexes develop a bump in breeding season, and it's not on their bellies. The lump forms on top of the bird's beak, and falls off after the birds have mated and laid eggs. Its function is not entirely known, but is thought to be a display of fertility.
Taken in Cypress Hills, which is a beautiful oasis in the middle of the prairies. It is an interprovincial park located in the 2 provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. We only went to the Alberta side.
Many thanks for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.
This Pelican was extremely active this day. Gliding above the water than plunging for its prey, over and over again. Finally it decided to take a break near the pole where I was standing. Thank you Mr. Pelican.

FlyFisherMike and I spotted several of these feeding in the lower channel at Sardis Dam in Mississippi. However, this young bird caught something after several attempts.
