Just a small part of the recent electronics recycling event in our neighborhood. I guess it all gets taken apart into components and recycled. We had to give an address because people from out of state will come to drop off junk, but the program is paid for by California taxes, so they're not welcome.
It was quite a stunning sight, since ya gotta figure that each of these machines could have cost $400 to $2000 at some time, and it's all just heaped up in these tall boxes (5 or 6' high). The guy said they'd already took away a semi trailer full earlier in the day.

Descriptive Text
Life and the tool we use to measure it, time, become surreal when it's broken down into basic components and viewed under a microscope. Yesterday I had hoped for stormy weather today but it ended up being a mostly sunny Florida day, save for a few afternoon/evening clouds. Back to the time thing. As I thought about the shot frequency I wanted to use, I had to break down the day into hours, minutes, seconds. Basic, yes, but have you ever really broken your day down to the basic components? If so then you may have also realized how short life truly is. Now, I'm not going to lecture you on appreciating every waking moment because I could rightly be called a hypocrite. It's just an amazing thing to see the day melt away and to think what we could've done with our time and wonder if we should have.
I'm very much looking forward to cooler weather. I had planned a few photos today but the sun/heat is one of my biggest de-motivators. Many Floridians are quick to point out that winter/snow make many states partly inhabitable, but since summer is so long and intense in Florida, it's often difficult to get much done during the chunk of the day. This is my long-winded way of saying that once the weather mellows I'm going to get stupid outside with the camera.

Imorted image sequence into Quicktime, 3.5GB file saved in .mov format, also exported as 30mb .m4v. .m4v file imported into iMovie, music added and exported to a web-friendly size. However, I'm still plucking up the courage to set everything up myself, having failed to find a local Mac geek. Of the two empires of geekdom that I found via the local rag, one didn't even answer the phone, and the other told me rather unhelpfully that I should've bought myself a 'proper PeeCee'...

I was hoping against hope that after a good night's rest, my defunct Mac Mini might've pulled itself together and decided to play nice...
Not so. :-(
It finally dawned on me that I didn't have a clue where to start trying to sort it, and that having a tame Mac Geek to hand would be awfully nice. Trouble is, the nearest Mac Geek happens to be my ex-boyfriend from whom I parted on VERY acrimonious terms some years back, so I won't be going there, thank you very much!
So, tomorrow will see me rooting through all my old contacts, trying to find someone who won't say "A Mac??? One of those things? You want to get yourself a proper PeeCee!"

-I tried to help some guy today with transferring music from an external hard drive to his iPod. The poor guy was definitely not computer-saavy. And it was a PeeCee, and I don't know my way around Windows very well...but I did the best I could. And tried to make things as simple for him as possible. He had to leave though...I hope he gets things to work.
