She is mine own, and I as rich

in having such a jewel as

twenty seas, if all their sand

were pearl, the water nectar,

and the rocks pure gold.

Men know not the gold which lies in the mine of Christ Jesus, or surely they would dig in it night and day. They have not yet discovered the pearl of great price, or they would have sold their all to buy the field wherein it lies.

From Wikipedia:

The ideal pearl is perfectly round and smooth, but many other shapes, known as baroque pearls, can occur. The finest quality of natural pearls has been highly valued as gemstones and objects of beauty for many centuries.

Because of this, the pearl has become a metaphor for something rare, fine, admirable, and valuable.

I hope that you smile and smile some more today. Happy snapping.

The image is almost six times larger than the actual Phyciodes tharos. It is a small butterfly about one to 1.5 inches. It's found in most parts of the Americans and inhabitants areas of low cut open pastures, roadsides, open fields and open pine wooded areas. They stay and fly very low to the ground and rarely fly more than a few feet off of the ground.

Pearl’s Hill City Park is a hidden oasis of peace and tranquillity. Built around a reservoir on top of a hill, the park is a great place to take a brief respite from the hustle and bustle of city life.

My first of the year and the buzz of finding these stunning butterflies never ceases. Fingers crossed for a good season for this species.

The Pearl Kite is the smallest Neotropical raptor. It is widespread throughout the dry to arid regions of South America, with an isolated population in Nicaragua. It is found in a wide variety of habitats; it prefers shrubby pasture, cerrado and open tropical woodland, but also occurs, at least locally, along the edges of tropical lowland evergreen forest. Pearl Kites perch fairly conspicuously upon tall shrubs or snags. From these perches they drop to the ground in a short dive to capture their quarry, which almost exclusively are small lizards. Though very small, its raptor-like posture, dark back, white collar and underparts, and black cap and mask render it unmistakable. Formerly thought to be a related to the falcons (Falconidae) due its small size and plumage pattern, the Pearl Kite is more likely a close relative of the kite genus Elanus, based on evidence from feather lice and anatomical features. doi.org/10.2173/bow.peakit1.01

Black Pearl pepper is a cultivar of Capsicum annuum. The leaves range from a deep purple to an onyx black in hue, and the plant blooms beautiful purple flowers. The peppers themselves are tiny, closer to chiltepin or pequin peppers in size than a typical long pepper. Unripened Black Pearls take on a similar onyx black color, and as they age they turn shades to a sultry crimson red. There’s no other way to say it – this is a stunning plant. No wonder it’s such a favorite for ornamental landscaping.https://www.pepperscale.com/black-pearl-pepper/
