The only way we can get anything other than stony-faced ambivalence out of our cat.

I believe there are 8 cats at the Romsey cat cafe, including new cat Emmy, who had just been rescued. For more info, please visit the link above.

I think this fluffy tabby is called Mercury, from Romania.

There is a cat café in Romsey (Paws for Thought) and peering through a gap we could see several cats snoozing inside. It wasn't actually open so we couldn't go in but I managed to get a shot of this one through the glass.

There are a few items you can buy from the shop area in the Paws for Thought Cafe and Liz bought a set of mugs, each with one of the cats on! Teddy was hiding in one of the boxes, but we assume he's not for sale!! Teddy came to the cafe with Mercury, who you've already seen.

This sleepy cat is either Nala or Kiara! She's one of the rescue cats in the Paws for Thought cafe in Romsey. She found a nice spot not far from the window.

Emmy had only just joined the cats at Paws for Thought - sadly she only has 3 legs and part of her tail but I think she looks content!!

I found this on the Facebook pages - Emmy must have originally been named Luna, but there was already a black Luna. Here's Emmy's story:

A month ago Ioana rescued this poor little girl in a terrible state from the streets of Romania…..With the help of all Ioana’s followers this little girl has now been called Luna 💕

Unfortunately Luna needed to have a leg amputated and part of her tail as well, as it was the only way to save her little life.

Luna is only a few months old and so far her life has been miserable.

We don’t know what caused these injuries but sometimes it’s better not knowing! (From August 2021)

Another cat who had found a bright, warm spot near the front window at the Paws for Thought Cafe in Romsey. This is either Nala or Kiara - they both look the same! They were both adopted from Romania in 2018.

My aim was to take photos of all the cats, but I failed to get a good one of Luna, who was totally black and actually on our dining table when we arrived! She jumped up onto a cat tower after that but only showed up as a black blob in my photo! The other cat we missed was a beautiful tabby called Xena, but it was asleep in the back garden and we couldn't go outside.

Emma (in the right photo) is in charge of the Paws for Thought Cafe. She has just finished wrapping up Liz's set of cat mugs! I'm sorry I don't know the name of the lady on the left, but she was lovely to talk to (they all were!). These photos are particularly special as this cat is Lina! You all know Lina is the name of our rescue dog! Cat Lina was easy to spot because of kink in her tail. As it happens, Lina was the most active all the cats, so it was fun to see her strolling around the joint and trying to help wrap up Liz's mugs!!

Week 8 of 52 weeks for dogs and this shot is way outside my comfort zone, however I decided to go ahead and post it as one of my goals this year is to think 'outside the box'. Also, it was about time I got a picture of Taivas in her 'spot' in the house - the front doormat. She spends hours there, snoozing and contemplating life, lol. It's very gloomy in my hallway and I took this late evening, hence the wide open aperture and highish iso.

Processing in Gimp and MS Digital Image.

Added a texture layer in Gimp and changed to black and white, then as it was a little grainy from the high iso I used a slight film grain filter in digital image to accentuate it.

The sign above the window of "E Haigh" was exposed in 1987; 2002, Dolls House shop; 2005-7 Paws for Thought (Teddy Bears soft toys). 2007 - Tasty Vintage clothing.

Steep Hill consists of independent shops, tea rooms and pub and in 2011 Steep Hill was named "Britain's Best Place" by the Academy of Urbanism. The central (and steepest) part of the route is unsuited to any form of vehicle, and only passable on foot. A handrail is provided along this section. Steep Hill along with Strait was created when the line of Ermine Street was diverted to the east in the 11th century. The route is part of the Roman route from the ford over the River Witham to the Forum in modern Bailgate, and thus the final part of Ermine Street.

The name is an 18th century creation. Previously named after the poultry market, The Poultry (14th century), Polther Hill and the Pultry (16th century). John Speeds original 1607 survey plan names it Bore Hill. The part between Well Lane and Strait was called Foot of the Hill in 1826. While the section between Danesgate and Well Lane was recorded as Bowers Hill in 1856.
