The river ought to be renamed in honor of something or someone more relevant to the river's environmental and cultural context than Governor Edward Tiffin, but I don't see anybody making it a priority to build a popular movement to rename it.

In German Township in Fulton County, Ohio, on November 2nd, 2024, was the Tiffin River as viewed from the north side of a bridge on the Wabash Cannonball Trail, concurrently a segment of the North Country National Scenic Trail, between U.S. Route 20A and Ohio State Route 66. A bridge on U.S. Route 20A is visible in the distance.

The Tiffin River flows to the Maumee River, which flows to Lake Erie, and so on over Niagara Falls &c &c.

Based on satellite imagery and pages 48-49 of this report from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, I suspect that this segment of the river was relocated to bypass a meander in the late 19th or early 20th century.
