The Patriot my uncle, career US Army, the picture was taken in Panama before WW2 started, he was lucky to be sent back to the US to train troops for the duration of the war, he was a very sharp soldier, he made Master Sargent and retained that rank for all of his career, one hell of a guy.

One of 4 remaining GNRR-painted locomotives on roster leads a southbound train through the suburban rainforest.
Leading her first revenue freight train since being placed on the Employee Appreciation Special, BNSF 1776 sticks out like a soar thumb compared to her orange brethren on the point of westbound intermodal train Z-WSPLSC as it travels from Chicago to Los Angeles along BNSF's Southern Transcon route. BNSF 1776 is one of three brand-new GE ES44ACHs painted in honor of America's Semiquincentennial with the other two being BNSF 250 and BNSF 2026. Having originally been built in January 2026 numbered BNSF 3379, BNSF 3380 and BNSF 3381 wearing the standard Heritage III livery, the three locomotives were selected for repaint by Mid-America Car. Both BNSF 1776 and BNSF 2026 were revealed on May 18th, and BNSF 250 followed 9 days later on May 27th. BNSF would end up being the fourth Class 1 railroad to reveal Semiquincentennial units after Canadian National, CPKC and Union Pacific.

I've always wondered what Bald Eagles think of us on the fourth of July, but my questions were put to rest when I spied this eagle today helping us to celebrate the 4th of July!
Yes, of course this has been photo-shopped my friends. I am a big fan of Gary Larson who's fabulous cartoons ended with his retirement in 1995. I loved his use of animals and his attribution of human qualities to them, like talking cows. I undertook to change this photo in that spirit of humor and not to make any political points. I hope you enjoy this image in the spirit of humor that was intended.
