Disappointed with the provincial public health policies or lack there of, I decided to record one aspect of our health care system which will retain its beauty for a long time to come, namely the architecture of its fine hospitals. I took a Sunday walk along a stretch of the University Avenue where at least 5 major hospitals are located, depending on how you count them, and took some shots. This is No. 1 of the Hospital Walk Series. The Princess Margaret Hospital has been renamed The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in keeping with its function. Part of the University Health Network, it is affiliated with the University of Toronto and is now the largest cancer centre in Canada and one of the largest 5 in the world. The cancer centre has several new and modern looking extensions to the old building, but in my eyes this one built in 1915 is the most appealing. Photo best viewed in large.

Replacement vehicles are arriving, but the old Defenders will once more probably play an important role over the winter.
Saint Joseph London
In July of 1946 the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Kentucky purchased what was then called Pennington General Hospital in London, Kentucky and assumed its leadership. Renamed Marymount – Our Lady of the Mountain, the mission of the sisters was to extend the healing ministry of Christ bringing quality health care to the poor and underserved of rural Kentucky. In 1997 Marymount along with seven other Kentucky facilities, became part of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and in 2008 those same eight facilities formed Saint Joseph Health System. At that time the hospital name was changed to Saint Joseph – London. In January 2012 Saint Joseph London became part of KentuckyOne Health, the largest health system in Kentucky with more than 200 locations including hospitals, outpatient facilities and physician offices, and more than 3,000 licensed beds. An 18-member volunteer board of directors governs KentuckyOne Health, its facilities and operations, including Saint Joseph London with this mission:

So, patientcare wasn't entirely sure about Neve's skintone since they apparently didn't keep record of such things at the time of release, and they didn't have a sample. But they believe FR White. I don't have any dolls to compare to but her skin seems darker, like maybe Latino or Hungarian?
Also, I'm torn between being annoyed that Adele has 2 different eye colors when the ad showed 2 white sclerae and thinking it looks kinda cool lol

On the weekend before Christmas, we had another major dumping. Mixed with a bit of freezing rain, I was happy that I didn't have to shovel much of it. I had just done the walkway from the driveway to the house when I saw this machine coming up the road and asked Sue to grab the camera.
It was just a year ago when I experienced lightning bolts in my right eye after a heavy shovelling, After that, we contracted the job out.
I have mixed emotions about this as I actually enjoy clearing a moderate amount of snow, but after snowfalls like this one, I am extremely happy to see the snowblower coming.
I have been wanting to get a shot ever since, but fortuitously I was already outside on this day, and my camera was fairly close by, just inside the door.
Note: There are 4 additional photos in the in my Photostream. Flickr doesn't seem to want me to link them in Comments, but they exists.
Flashes
When the vitreous gel inside your eye rubs or pulls on the retina, you may see what look like flashing lights or lightning streaks. You may have experienced this same sensation if you have ever been hit in the eye and seen "stars".
The flashes of light can appear off and on for several weeks or months. As we grow older, it is more common to experience flashes. If you notice the sudden appearance of light flashes, you should visit your ophthalmologist immediately because it could mean that the retina has been torn.

She arrived Tuesday May 28th!
So happy she arrived during my four day Memorial stretch off this week.
I was really impressed with the fast turn around time. It took about 15 days (2 weeks) to arrive back to me from Canada. (It took longer because of the Memorial Day / Holiday weekend.)
I am very happy with her. There are still things I liked better with my original head. The replacement isn't perfect, but it is an improvement from what I sent in. :)
I am working with her to find her vibe. She definitely has a different personality from the Agnes I sent in.
Agnes definitely demanded allot of photography session times Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Nestled in the heart of San Francisco’s burgeoning Mission Bay district, the UCSF Mission Bay Cardiovascular Care and Prevention Center stands as a beacon of modern healthcare architecture and innovation. With its striking glass facade that mirrors the ever-changing skies above, this state-of-the-art facility not only reflects San Francisco’s commitment to cutting-edge medical care but also its deep respect for architectural beauty.
As you approach this landmark center, you’re greeted by reflections of fluffy clouds drifting across panels of blue-tinted glass—a nod to both San Francisco’s notorious foggy weather and its rare crystal-clear days. The building’s design seamlessly integrates into the urban fabric while making its own bold statement—much like San Francisco itself.
The center’s location in Mission Bay is no coincidence; this neighborhood has transformed from industrial roots into a hub for science, technology, and medicine—symbolizing hope and progress. The UCSF center adds to this narrative with its dedication to preventing heart disease through innovative research and patient care.
Inside, natural light floods through expansive windows creating an atmosphere that promotes healing while offering panoramic views of this iconic city—from rolling hills to urban streetscapes. Every detail from lobby to laboratory speaks volumes about San Francisco’s forward-thinking ethos.
