"The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sunburned hand I used to hold
Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall"--Nat King Cole
Temple of the Six Banyan Trees in Guangzhou is a 1400-year-old Buddhist monastery, dating from 537AD during China's Southern and Northern Dynasties Period, when Buddhism in China was in its prime. Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty in South China was the most zealous devotee of Buddhism among all the emperors throughout the history of China. At that time, a Buddhist priest called Tanyu, who was a maternal uncle of Emperor Wu, was planning to bring the Buddhist relic they got in Cambodia to Guangzhou from Nanjing. To await the arrival of this Buddhist relic, the then governor of Guangzhou, Xiao Yu by name, specially had this temple built. The original structure of the temple was destroyed by fire in the middle of the 10th century during the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty. The existing temple was built in 989 and the pagoda was reconstructed in 1097.
7/26/08 – Today FGR invaded the Inspire or Be Inspired group. To me, nothing is more inspirational than the written word. It can inspire a moment of escape or be a catalyst of a life altering epiphany. Images, sound (aka songs), & touch can do similar, but they usually require some sort of explanation…aka words.
On this sheet I wrote down a number of things & people who have and currently do inspire me. What I though would be a few, turned out to be many.
Since the paper didn’t turn out, I will leave it as the biggest & most influential over me have been my friends: past, present, & future, in real life &/or virtual. I consider myself fortunate to have known the people I’ve known. To my friends (especially to those who I’ve lost contact over the years) all I have to say is:
Call me, & we’ll do (a martini) lunch :)
This image shows more culture of the area than a hundred fuckin' tourist shops. If you want to know what has happened, what's happening and what will happen in Flagstaff look here. Even the building says something. I especially like how there are two numbers, and how they equal 11.
"'Cause you're a sky, 'cause you're a sky full of stars, I'm gonna give you my heart. 'Cause you're a sky, 'cause you're a sky full of stars, 'cause you light up the path. I don't care, go on and tear me apart, I don't care if you do, ooh. 'Cause in a sky, 'cause in a sky full of stars, I think I saw you."--Coldplay

to Major Tom, you've really made the grade, and the papers want to know whose shirts you wear, now it's time to leave the capsule, if you dare'--David Bowie
