Headed East out of Sunbury, this special passenger train is enroute to Snydertown along the Shamokin Creek.
This right of way was built by the Shamokin, Sunbury & Lewisburg Railroad (SS&L) chartered in 1882. The SS&L was completed the following year from Shamokin to West Milton and acquired by the Philadelphia & Reading Railroad, popularly known simply as "The Reading Railroad."
The train operated with an EMD SW1500 at each end. This end's loco is No. 1942. Built in 1972, this is one of six such 1500 horsepower locos rostered by the North Shore Railroad.
The baggage car was once part of the Conrail OCS roster as No. 23.
All passengers please take the seats!
Matilda: "Who she is talking to?"
Frīda: "Train attendant is talking to us! To all of those who are in train now."
Matilda: "But she said: pass...pass...engers"
Frīda: " Passengers. You see, you are Matilda, I am Frīda, but once we are in train to travel somewhere, we become passengers"
"All of us?" Matilda still wants to know
"All who are on the train", smiles Frīda
This plane had been damaged in a windstorm and cannibalized. This boneyard had two more DC-3's and the adjoining airport had two flyable including one equipped as a crop duster!

A look at the satellite view (10/21) shows the three wrecks still there, but the flyables have flown.
Absolutely fuming that my main target of the day was the only time two trains passed one another here! Looking absolutely pristine, 43049 heads south from Penrith with the 1Z71 Carlisle-Plymouth as a frustratingly close pendo heads north with a Euston-Glasgow service. Had the HST not been a few minutes late and had the pedno not been 8 minutes down there would've been around 10 minutes difference but as fate would have it, it didn't go my way again and for the second time in 4 days I got bowled by a passenger service.
