A green aurora appears above a semi-trailer truck parked near Atigun Pass on the evening of March 21, 2015. Atigun Pass, where the Dalton Highway crosses the Brooks Range in northern Alaska, is one of the highest roads in the state.

This is the upper part of a light bulb.

Exactly: a Philips 12929B2 (12V, 4W).

It's used for a VW Lupo parking light. The height of the whole light bulb is round about 0,8 inch. I've connected it to a transformer (1,7V - 12V) of a model railroad to regulate the brightness of the tungsten wire.

Oh i love such small technical electrical tasks! :o)

When viewed under normal conditions, these lights appear identical. When photographed in fog or snow, they reveal different color patterns. I'm not sure if there is a physical difference or just a perceptual difference ....

TGIF and Happy Easter!

A couple of weeks ago I met up with Ian (RZ68) for a return shoot on Mt. Hamilton. Although we have shot on this mountain before, this time we had a new curve in mind. Any time you mix light trails, a full moon, blue hour, good company and the Lick Observatory you know your in for a good shoot. It is always a blast when Ian and I get together and like many times before I always walk away learning something new from him that has helped me become a better photographer. This shot would not have been possible without his help. With that said make sure to click his name and check out a couple of outstanding shots of his from the top of this mountain.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hope everyone in the Bay Area has a chance to see the space shuttle Endeavor fly by later this morning! It will be a once in a life time chance to see.

Taken in New Haven CT at around 6 a.m. during sunrise. I was in my car, stopped at a red light when I captured this shot. Surprisingly little noise for shooting at 2000 ISO in the Dark. I did try to clean it up a bit in PS, without affecting too many details in the image. But this was hand held in a running car at a red light. So, you can only expect so much. I really wish I was standing on the corner using a tripod and a much lower ISO speed. But this was a spontaneous shot, and I am pretty happy with the results. I love that you can see the powerful street lights and how they light up the surroundings. And the building is beautiful.

This old girl actually has a charged battery and an oil pressure gage. Odometer reads, only 61,500 mi. She's in pretty good shape, considering there is no cover on it, and it's out in the open, under a carport, where it is exposed to the weather, somewhat. The paint is beautiful, and would look a lot better with a nice detail and a good waxing. Some of the chrome on the bumpers are showing some signs of rust, but not too badly. It must have been restored at some point, maybe fifteen years ago. Hopefully the owner gives her a nice Sunday drive to keep things working in the transmission and the rear end, and all kinds of parts that need to be used on a regular basis. It is owned by an elderly gentleman, who lives at this facility, and the car seems to be registered. I'd love to meet the owner to see if he would be interested in selling this piece of American History. The interior is just so lovely and the heavy crushed velour is in perfect condition. I have no idea what a car like this might be worth.. — at Masonicare At Ashlar Village.

Such a lucky find for me! I was driving around Ashlar Village, which is where the very wealthy elderly come to life in their golden years. And, of course there are very expensive cars everywhere you look. Like Lexus's, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Lincoln, and a lot of "high end" Japanese cars. But, I happened to stumble upon this gorgeous 1941 Cadillac Series 60, 4 door. I nearly fell over, when I saw it, just parked there amongst the other cars. This car is so mammoth, that it barely fits into it's parking space, And the condition of this exquisite car, was wonderful. I can't believe that it sits there every day. I took a bunch of exterior shots, I was able to get a couple of shots of the interior, while turning on my flash. But, I'm also happy I was able to get the shot. What a beautiful place to live, but it costs an awful lot of money to get an apartment or even a house over there.

A whole bunch of left over pumpkins, just two days after Halloween. I was on Paddock Ave. in Meriden, when I drove by, and saw this. I had to get some pics of this scene.

This is another beautiful car, that looks like it's hardly ever been driven, up in Ashlar Village, in Wallingford, CT. Ashlar Village is a home for the extremely rich, older, retirees to live. And the garages are filled with very expensive cars. Sure there are lots of Lexus's and other expensive cars. But the ones that strike me are the Big Older Model American Cars, that a few of these people have owned and cared for, and hardly drive at all. I'm sure this Lincoln has very few miles on her, and I would love to do a whole photo spread of it. But I was up there, trying not to get noticed by the security, being in the private garages, and taking photos of some of the cars.

My 2016 Charger Scat Pack in Plum Crazy purple

A really nice looking Volkswagen Beetle from 2002, that looks to be in original shape. I like that it's a convertible, and that the color is a yellowish green.. It was 6 a.m. and I was forced to use an ISO of 640. So the image needed a little noise reduction. I also used multiple layers in this shot so I could seperate the car from it's background, and work on the two layers seperately. I like the way it came out. Thank goodness for Photoshop.

I just love the entire look of this Ford pickup Truck, and found myself taking many shots of her after discovering the truck, parked on Bee St. in Meriden, CT. This was on a Tues. morning in October of 2014, on my way to the Highway entrance, on East Main Street. It was Parked across the street from the Mattabassett pond, not too far from the Carol Park Basketball Courts. Such a neat looking vehicle, from the late 40s or early 50s.

This morning, Tuesday 21st of October 2014, I was driving down Bee Street, and drove right past this awesome, old, Ford Truck. Well, I backed up, got out of my car, an started to shoot a bunch of pics. I'll post some more of the front end too. Because that looked pretty awesome as well. What a lucky break, for me. I happened upon this 2002 Volkswagen Beetle on Friday morning, on my way home from North Haven. It was Sunrise, and there really wasn't much light. I had to resort to using a 1000 ISO setting, which I usually try to stay away from. But I was able to clean up most of the noise and grain. Also using the Kit Lens at 18mm. I struggled a long time in PS and Lightroom to create this image out of my darkly exposed image. But the car is cool, as I am a sucher for any Automobile that is German Made.

I turned this image into a black and white photo with NIK Silver Effex Pro 2, as another layer. Then, in blending effects, I was able to change the opacity of my black and white, among other things, and decided to stick with the silver flair and the color of the foliage.

Pretty cool shot of the train tracks in Wallingford. No one was behind me, so I was able to stop the car right on the tracks, and take photos in each direction. This one is looking southbound towards New Haven, and New York.

Was fascinated by the noir feel of the shot in making, little i knew that he would light a cigarette to make it more dramatic.

A Collage of the 1941 Pictures that I've worked on thus far. It is such an interesting car to me, as I got to see it up close, with nobody else around. I think the interior shot is probably one of my favorite shots that I've taken in a while. Talk about a Beast. This is what I should be driving as my 'daily driver' lol.... I wish.

Such a beautiful view of this antique, Classic Cadillac. I've always loved the big American Made cars, and this one, is a gem. Everything seems to be restored to original condition, or it is in original condition. I saw the car, as I was driving through Ashlar Village. It's a place where the very Rich go, to spend their golden years. The parking garages seemed to have only the finest automobiles in them, but this was the only Classic Car that I happened to see.

The parking light was mandatory on many 1960s models of the French production, and on some foreign models also. It disappeared with the 1970s. This small lights located on the side of the car, had to be lit in case of parking on a road or village without street lighting.
