This is a German game "Mensch ärgere dich nicht"

"Mensch ärgere Dich nicht" is a German board game (but not a German-style board game), developed by Josef Friedrich Schmidt in 1907/1908.

The game was issued in 1914 and sold about 70 million copies. It is a cross and circle game with the circle collapsed onto the cross, similar to the Indian game Pachisi, the Colombian game Parqués, the American games Parcheesi and Trouble, and the English game Ludo. Source Wikipedia

Board Game pieces of Pachisi / Ludo / Parcheesi / Ludo / Mensch ärgere Dich nicht / Mens erger je niet / Parchis / etc.

- The game goes back to an old Indian game called Pachisi, which is still known today. Moreover, it is very common in Sri Lanka ('pahada kolya'), Malaysia ('dhola'), Myanmar ('pasit', 'chwe-pyit-thi' or 'ansah-pyit-thi'), Iran ('pachis'), as well as in Arabic countries ('parchis').

- The game is also very similar to the Colombian game Parqués, the American games Parcheesi and Trouble, and the English game Ludo.

- Finally, through the Moors, it was brought to Spain, and thus to Europe.

The Board Game Art Park is an art installation actually titled "Your Move," by artists Daniel Martinez, Renee Petropoulis and Roger White. Created in 1996 and dedicated in 1997, "Your Move" is a playful scattering of giant metal and fiberglass board game pieces on the gridded plaza around Philadelphia's Municipal Services Building -- Pantagruel-scale dominoes, chess pieces, Parcheesi, and Monopoly pieces.

Which do you like, if any?

Ludo is a strategy board game for two to four players, in which the players race their four tokens from start to finish according to the rolls of a single die. Like other cross and circle games, Ludo is derived from the Indian game Pachisi, but simpler.

This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a weekly challenge called “Snap Happy”. A different theme chosen by a member of the group each week, and the image is to be posted on the Monday of the week.

This week the theme, “colourful” was chosen by Andrew, ajhaysom.

I had thought to do a photo using brightly coloured buttons for the theme, so I was going through my button box when I came across an almost complete set of Ludo tokens. They quickly became my choice for my photo instead of the buttons because of their simplicity, the rage of ways I could set them and of course for their wonderful primary colours!

If it's question of confess I don't know how prepare coffee and I don't understand football. I have never been unfaithful, I play bad to parcheesi and never use clock. I never sleep before ten and I cry once a month, especially when cold. With me nothing is easy, but it's so boring...

I'm a devotee of the religion of sinners, I always say things and maybe I'm too honest. I've never hated, neither hatred nor will hate. I was so, I am and what I will be: imperfect.

Confesionario.

Meanwhile, at Dunder Mifflin...

"Oh, hey, George! I didn't think anyone else was still here. Working late, I like that."

Oh, man! Why did I come back for my stupid notepad? I won't need it tonight! I don't even take notes! Now I'm standing here alone with Mr. Scott! He's so weird.

"Oh... sure, well, you know, Mr. Scott, just trying to... do what we do."

"Hey, it's after five, you can call me Michael now George! Once the whistle blows we're just two guys about to head out on the town."

On the town?? Two guys on the town? There is NO WAY I'm seen out on the town with this nutcase!

"On the town? Right, yeah, I was headed over to my friend's apartment actually. He's, uh, well, you may have seen him, he's a comedian. Jerry Seinfeld."

"What!? Really? Jerry Seinfeld is your friend? I love his comedy! I saw him on TV!"

Stupid! Why did I mention Jerry? Now how do I end this conversation and get OUT OF HERE.

"Yeah, sure, Mr... I mean, Michael. Well, I need to get over there because we're scheduled to... um... play a game."

"Oh? What game?"

"... ... Parcheesi?"

"No way! I haven't played parcheesi in forever! You know what, George, I'm going to change all my plans right now and come with you! I'll get to meet Jerry and it'll be three guys kicked back with beer and parcheesi!"

Change your plans?? You didn't have any plans! You're a loser and no one wants to be around you!

"Oh... Um, isn't parcheesi a two person game?"

"Nope, I'm pretty sure up to four people can play."

Who is this guy, Milton Bradley??

"Oh! Well... in that case... but I remem-"

"Oh, hey! HAHA! You know what I just thought of?"

"ber... No, what did you think of?"

"Us two out on the town... Michael... and George... GEORGE MICHAEL?? Isn't that cool?? Hey, we can call ourselves WHAM!"

"Right. Wham..."

"Well, let's head out, Whammo! We can talk about my giant hands illustration on the way!"*

How did this happen? Jerry's going to kill me. He's probably never seen a parcheesi game. WHY DID I COME BACK FOR THAT STUPID NOTEPAD!??

Meanwhile, at Jerry's apartment...

"ParCHEESI??"

...laughter...

"Yes, Jerry, PARCHEESI! I told Mr. Scott here... er, Michael, my boss, that you and I were playing Parcheesi tonight!"*

"George..."

"Jerry, it's great to meet you. I told George I was a fan so when he invited me over I couldn't say no!"

"How nice of George..."

...laughter...

"But, Jerry, if you can't play Parcheesi tonight, we understand... and can do something different."

"I don't understand, why wouldn't you guys be able to play Parcheesi?"

"Well, ah, my board is in the shop."

...laughter...

"In the shop??"

"Right. At our last game, George was a bit below par and... you know... broke one of the cheesis."

...laughter...

"I don't understand."

"Neither do I. Not at all. Perhaps George can explain."

...laughter...

"Wait, I do have a question."

"Sure, Michael, what's up?"

"Where is that laughter coming from?"

"Ah, right, right, right, George said you guys don't have a live audience at Dunder Mifflin. Or even a laugh track."

"A laugh track??"

"I told you."

...laughter...

"Welcome to the big leagues, Mikey boy! Well, since Parcheesi is out of the question and, just for reference, will remain out of the question for all future visits..."

...laughter...

"...would you like to have a Snapple? I'd be absolutely fascinated to pick the brain of someone who can actually put up with George as an employee."

...laughter...

"Hm. Well, no, I think I'll be going."

"What? Really? Because we're not playing Parcheesi?"

"It's a great game. I mean, as you would know, since you play it all the time."

...laughter...

"Right! Well, wow, I'm sorry? Maybe George can set up something for us in the future, not at my apartment, and perhaps when I'm busy."

...laughter...

"That sounds good. Well, thank you Jerry and it was really great to meet you. Could I get you to autograph something?"

Oh... sure! What do you have?"

"Nothing. Do you have something?"

...laughter...

"Sure... let me grab a notepad. Should I make it out to you?"

"Only if it's a check. HA! HAHA!!"

"Oh, haha... right..."

...laughter...

...applause...

In the library

I grew up playing board games. Checkers, Parcheesi, Monopoly, Easy Money, Chinese Checkers, Sorry, Mousetrap BattleShip, Stratego, Chess. Then Later on came Clue, Facts In Five, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Bonkers, Yahtzee, and a lot more that escape my mind right now. Just good old fashioned fun that never got old or went out of style.

Meanwhile, at Dunder Mifflin...

"Hey, Michael, you wanted to see me?"

"Hello, Jim, I actually wanted to see George. But he's not in for some reason."

"It's Tuesday. That's his sick day."

"He gets sick every Tuesday?"

"As far as you know."

"Right. Okay, I was going to talk with George and... Jim, you don't mind a little 'man talk' do you?"

"I'm a man. It's pretty much the only talk I'm capable of."

"Right. So, since George isn't here, I thought I'd run this past you. Now, again, I'm not Mr. Scott, your manager, right now. I'm Michael your bud. Your compadre. Pretend this isn't my office and we're just hanging out at your place. Or my place. No authori-"

"Got it, Michael. Informal conversation."

"Right. So, I've met this girl. Elaine.* I met her through George, actually. Kind of indirectly. George invited me over to play Parcheesi with the comedian, Jerry Seinfeld.** Do you know who he is?"

"Sure. I've seen him on Channel 35.*** So, did George or Jerry introduce you to Elaine?"

"Neither, but she knows them. You see I was leaving Jerry's apartment -"

"After you all played Parcheesi."

"-when... No, we didn't actually play. That was disappointing. Jerry said his board was being repaired.**** But when I left his building I bumped into Elaine. Literally, I bumped into her. And we got to talking and went out to eat. And we're going to see each other again."

"Okay... cool, Michael. That sounds great. I hope you and Elaine hit it off."

"Well... you didn't ask me about her. Like, if she's drop-dead gorgeous."

"... Is Elaine drop-dead gorgeous, Michael?"

"Oh, yes. Oh, man, yes. Wow. Just, I can't get her off my mind. Everything about her. Her figure. Her face. Her voice."

"Okay, good. Are there any other questions about Elaine I should ask?"

"Well, there's a LOT to her, Jim, but the drop-dead gorgeous part is of course primary."

"Right, that's definitely how you judge women."

"So, I was thinking, you know in our bawdy man talk... Oh! Instead of your place or my place, pretend like we're in a locker room! That sets the tone better."

"Yeah, I really need to-"

"So, there, Jim, if I were to need any pointers about proceeding, tell me about your intimate times Pam. Spare no detail and-"

"Michael?"

"Yes, Jim?"

"I'm going back to my desk."

I chose RACKO as last night’s game. You draw a card and replace/discard a card in your rack, until the cards are in numerical order. Numbers range from 1 to 60 and any combo of those numbers works. A winning rack scores 75 points. The loser scores 5 points for every card up to the point where her card is no longer in order. We played until someone reached 500.

I won this one, so it’s Karen-2, Lindsey-1 out of three game nights. This won’t last though, Lins is so much better at games than me. I know Parcheesi night is coming and she’s a whiz at Parcheesi.

I just finished playing a game of Battleship with my dad, and it was pretty intense. I lost, but I have a really good strategy that I Intend to use forever ;) I'd say my favorite board games are Parcheesi and Scrabble though. Classics! :)

I was hoping the sun would be out today and that we'd have blue skies, but it is actually as gray as it could be, so I took this photo against a gray sky haha and to make it a little less dull, I adjusted some color curves, put a gradient and a texture :) That heart texture is the best. It's really simple and so cute! I favorited it if you want to see whose it is~
