The Pejepscot Paper Company is a historic mill building located off U.S. 201 in Topsham, Maine, on the banks of the Androscoggin River, across from the town of Brunswick. Built in 1868, the building is one of the oldest surviving paper mill in the state. The building has been restored since the fire that took out the wooden building closest to Main St. It is now a mixed-use commercial property, housing the Sea Dog Brewing Company among other tenants.[Wikipedia]

The Paper Daisies have resumed their flowering for the Spring and Summer with a massive display of new, papery textured, flowers.

They are like vanilla drops with splotches of honey in the middle.

I have a large collection of paper napkins from all over the world, because I used to do decoupage a long time ago. Now I use them mainly to decorate Easter eggs and this year I did it with my granddaughter who was delighted with that way of

decoration.

Have a great weekend ahead and thank you for visiting!

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!

Today is a pink or purple day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday is creative with toilet paper. The first thing that came to my mind was the pandemic toilet paper world wide shortage. How can we forget about this epic event in human history ? People were stocking and hoarding toilet paper like it was going out of style ! In Montreal we had a limit of how many rolls of toilet paper we could get per person. The struggle was real ! However, it wasn’t the first shortage of toilet paper in my lifetime. I clearly remember a time, in communist Poland, when toilet paper was worth almost as much as 24 carats gold. Toilet paper shortages are happening often in Cuba as well. But, as you can see my wooden mannequin is ready and he has lots of rolls only for him, since he is living alone. I made those tiny toilet paper rolls, all by myself, during the pandemic lockdown … that is how bored I was after several weeks of being inside. Of course, those are useless for an adult human normal size during the toilet paper shortage… let just hope that it will never happened again. I hope that my picture will make you smile !!! Happy Smile on Saturday my friends !

Mucho, mucho amor for you my friends !! Have a beautiful day !!!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !

Because darkroom paper is orthochromatic, the colour response isn't what you might expect - the petals of this sunflower are actually yellow and the background should be black ...

OK, it's true. I'm addicted to paper.

……’Pink’ & ‘Paper’ being the two I picked from the two lists for Macro Mondays theme ‘Pick Two’. I used Semolina as sand and a little frog measuring circa ½“ by 1” taking shade under the Pink Cocktail Parasol. HMM…..Alan:-)

Native paper wasps are smaller than European Wasps, and lack their vivid yellow markings. They tend to only be aggressive when defending their nests, and are otherwise beneficial insects to have around the garden.

Identification

Paper wasps have a small head, with medium sized eyes and medium length antennae. The body is slender, with a very narrow waist. There are two pairs of brown-tinted wings, with the first pair larger. The abdomen has some yellow/orange bands, but is mainly black. Recently, the introduced Asian Paper Wasp (Polistes chinensis) has been reported from several inner city suburbs of Sydney. This closely related species is larger than the native Polistes and tends to have more distinctive yellow and brown bands.

The theme for for "Smile on Saturday" for Saturday 7th of June is "portray the letter P", where, as the name suggests you need to portray the letter P in some way. In this case, I have used pretty pieces of découpage paper from my collection to form the letter P. There is even a pansy in there for good measure! I hope you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile!

Scrapbooking was a popular pastime in Victorian times for both children and adults. Creating a scrapbook was not only a craft project, it was also a way of preserving memories.

In the 1800s, the automated printing press was invented. Suddenly books and printed material became much more widely available. As well as writing in their commonplace books, people began to cut out and stick in printed items. Things like greeting cards, calling cards, postcards, prayer cards, advertising trading cards and newspaper clippings were collected. Some of these books contained a mix of personal journal entries, hand-drawn sketches and watercolours, along with various scraps of printed material. These books were literally books of scraps.

By the 1820s, collectable scraps had become more elaborate. Some items were embossed: a process by which a die (a metal stamp for cutting or pressing) was punched into the reverse side of the paper, giving the front a raised three-dimensional appearance.

In 1837, the first year of Queen Victoria's reign, the colour printing process known as chromolithography was invented. This lead to the production of ‘ready made’ scraps. Brightly coloured and embossed scraps were sold in sheets with the relief stamped out to the approximate shape of the image. These pre-cut scraps were connected by small strips of paper to keep them in place. The laborious task of cutting out small pictures was thus removed, and sales of scraps went soaring. Many of the best-quality scraps of the period were produced in Germany, where bakers and confectioners used small reliefs to decorate cakes and biscuits for special occasions such as christenings, weddings, Christmas and Easter.

These embossed chromolithograph scraps are of German and British origin and date from the 1880s.

The “line_up“ is a paperwork series I developed since 2010. The “liners” are made out of paper (Din A3/A4),

oil paint and graphite. The theme is the hermetical laws of polarity and movement. There is no ending and no beginning in any direction, just an endless movement. You have the possibility to arrange the papers like you want and that makes it an endless playground for my photo-work and the eyes of the viewers.

I found this on the ground. It must have fallen from a nearby roof overhang. A paper wasp nest, no longer in use.
