After the processing, this song popped up in my head:

'Paint It Black' by The Rolling Stones.

The first to lines are:

""I see a red door and I want it painted black.

No colours anymore, I want them to turn black.""

Sweet memories of Schiermonnikoog ;-))

Happy weekend!

Painted Lady Butterfly

I heard rumors that the painted bunting male had returned to Dix Park in Raleigh, NC so I ventured out to see him. Merlin app first told me he was around and then there he was. Breath taking bird to observe.

The Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui, Syn: Cynthia cardui) is a butterfly of the family Nymphalidae.

When I went to geotag this photo, I used Google maps. On the street view, I found this same pub - except that when Google did it's photo (in August 2017), the building was all black. This photographer was very pleased that they had since decided to paint it red!

Stay well my Flickr friends <3

This lovely Dahlia was in perfect bloom. The nice part about this garden is that it’s run by a group of volunteers from the Dahlia Society of California. We were able to chat with them for a few minutes as they lovingly tended to all the flowers in the garden. This is clearly a labor of love, and their passion shows in the faces of all the beautiful blooms they care for.

Looking out my front window, I was blessed to see this beautiful sunset! Wishing all of you a magical sunset too my friends =)

I was extremely surprised to see this little visitor in the yard. He hung out most of the day. This is only the second time I have seen a painted bunting in the yard. The last time was a couple of years ago. He did not allow me to get very close. He's also very fast. However, I did manage to get a couple of shots while he was here.

Have a wonderful day and happy snapping.

I don't want summer to end without posting a butterfly. Here is a Painted Lady, and as you can see it was well aware that I was taking its photograph. How lucky we are to be able to observe with our macro lens their tiny lives.

Butterflies have been the inspiration of so many fairy tales and fantastic stories, and there are so many more things that I can say about them, but for now I'm going to stop there :)

Something interesting about this butterfly:

I have been in Explore for more that a hundred times, and it is an awesome experience to have your photos showcased in such a special way.

I thank your for coming today, for leaving a comment, and make a favorite of yours this photo, (if that is the case) thanks again!

The best part of this forum is the contacts and friends that I have made over the years, that have the same passion for this art that is called photography!

A come-and-paint-your-own pottery shop, one of the many small businesses struggling with all the virus restrictions.....it’s typical of lots of cute little buildings in Point Pleasant and other New Jersey beaches, with so much happy color that elaborate architecture is just not needed
