A PWD participants taking part in a walk during a marathon and walkathon jointly organised by UNSOS and other UN agencies in Somalia to mark the International Day of Persons with Disability, coinciding with the 16 Days of Activism campaign.

The event attracted more than 150 participants and was held under the theme “Fostering Disability Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress”, the event brought together runners and walkers to show their support for PWDs inclusion and the fight against Digital Gender Based Violence (GBV).

The event was jointly facilitated by the Secretariat for the Implementation of the UN Disability Strategy, including UNSOS and United Nations Transitional Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS) Gender Units and the UN Gender Theme Group led by the UN Women and Staff Welfare and Recreation Committee. The event was held at the UN Compound in Mogadishu, Somalia on 3rd December, 2025.
