The Department of Employment and Labour through the Public Employment Services (PES) branch hosted the launch of the Subsidy Scheme for PwD for 2022-2025.
Through the Subsidy Scheme the Department unveiled the nine workshops selected to participate in the scheme for the period 2022 to 2025. The workshops are funded in accordance with the Employment Services (ES) Act, to provide them with subsidies for providing work opportunities for vulnerable work seekers. [Photo: GICS]

The current path to the public toilet at the Bus Park, one of the main hubs of Gulu. This trench is a foot deep and prevents entry by persons with disabilities needing to use the washroom. The GDPU wants to change this.

Tim Patton of Saint Benjamin Brewing Co. joined Gary Burlingame of the Philadelphia Water Dept. talked about water treatment and brewing science at the PHS Pop Up Garden at 15th and South Streets on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016. To celebrate the first five years of the City’s Green City, Clean Waters program and its role in protecting local rivers, Saint Benjamin brewed a special beer that highlighted the profile of the water they get from the Delaware River. John Lewis was the design-engineer, effectively the designer of the Ord River Diversion Dam. In the early 1960s John Leis was in charge of a PWD survey of Tidal Power along the Kimberley coast from King Sound to the Cambridge Gulf. A paper was published by the Institute of Engineers Australia.

During the first-ever Philly Free Streets event on Sept. 24, 2016, Public Engagement staff from the Philadelphia Water Department educated residents about the Fairmount Dam Fishway, a special piece of infrastructure that helps anadromous fish like shad, striped bass, sturgeon and others access Schuylkill River habitat and spawning grounds located above the dam at the Water Works. Residents and visitors taking advantage of 10 miles of open streets stopped at the fishway, also called a fish ladder, to learn about the river and the Green City, Clean Waters program. On November 21, 2015 Philadelphia Water and the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program hosted a community paint day for a mural that will be installed at 55th and Hunter streets in the Hestonville section of Philadelphia. Volunteers from the neighborhood joined Mural Arts and PWD staff to paint sections of the mural that will be installed in spring 2016. Artists Eurhi Jones and Michael Reali were there to coordinate the painting of their mural, titled “Your Hands Shimmering on the Legs of Rain.” Part of PWD’s Philly Water Art program, the mural will overlook and highlight a Green City, Clean Waters project that will bring a rain garden and storage trench to a vacant lot. The mural was also designed with input from the neighbors who requested that art be included in the project.
