Living Lands and Waters (LLW), an Illinois-based non-profit dedicated to cleaning up America’s rivers, spent nearly two weeks hosting volunteer clean-up days on the Delaware River. Held Aug. 20 through Sept. 2, the clean-up effort was sponsored in part by Philadelphia Water and resulted in the removal over 35,000 pounds of trash. Here, volunteers from Philadelphia Water and the Delaware River Basin Commission join the LLW crew for a Sept. 1 clean-up just north of the Betsy Ross Bridge that netted 26 large bags of recyclable bottles and 17 30-gallon bags of non-recyclable trash. As part of our needs assessment we drove to a rural sub-county in Gulu District to visit a school we were told was in need of accessible latrines as they had a boy in fifth grade using a wheelchair. We meet the "boy" at his home as he has stopped going to school. He told us he didn't even have soap to wash his shirt and his school uniform was locked in a neighbor's hut. He gets by with the help of his neighbors who provide food.

Her jacket is cute, I hate the material (gold) but, besides that its pretty good, down side is that it comes snapped closed, and to take it off you have to cut the snap...so after that it's forever open which kinda blows.
PWD hosted representatives from Burlington, VT, Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD and Vancouver, BC for a two day peer exchange on municipal stormwater management.

An Earth Day ribbon cutting ceremony was held on April 22, 2015 where Mayor Michael Nutter, Philadelphia Water Department Commissioner Howard Neukrug, US EPA Regional Administrator Shawn M. Garvin, School District of Philadelphia Superintendent William Hite, Partnership for the Delaware Estuary Executive Director Jennifer Adkins and Councilman Mark Squilla gave remarks and students provided Earth Day signs and posters. The green stormwater infrastructure featured at Nebinger includes a rain garden, bioswale, a porous play surface, porous pavers, a below-ground basin and a landscaped border.
