Over winter break we ate at Gladstones on the beach in the palisades, and I set up a timelapse on the railing while we ate. This seagull was curious and hopped closer and closer for awhile, but luckily didn't actually try to fly off with my iPhone.

I went out to Montrose Harbor to try a sunset time lapse, but the clouds over the skyline weren't very interesting and the actual sunset was over a more boring part of the horizon. I'll have to find a better location/direction to try next time.

Reminded of some unposted P&W stuff by Blaze's addition this morning here's my shot of the Valley Falls job at Ashton.

I want this shot in the jobs normal mid morning time slot but I'll settle for dark side with foliage....for now.

Another old favorite that I have slightly updated.

23K cleared Gardner at the same time that the crew of GRWO started walking back up to the head end of their train. Dan and I got out of town quick and headed for Hubbardston. This whole line is foreign to me, so I was more than grateful to have Dan lead the way. Upon arrival at Moosehorn Pond, the clouds really thickened up, but the reflection was solid, so we waited it out. Not too long before the southbound showed, Dan took a peek at the western sky with his drone, and much to our surprise saw a decent break in the clouds. As the horn on the lead GE announced its arrival in Hubbardston, the sun broke through setting up a killer shot. A trio of Dash 8s catch some late evening sun, as the train makes its way back south to Worcester, skirting Moosehorn Pond.

These little flies are waiting for the Ox-eye Daises to open enough for them to lay their eggs. Have a close look at the florets in these daisies and you might see that some are raised higher than the others. The larvae of these little beauties is probably responsible. HFDF!

PW B40-8 4004 sits in Plainfield on the Willimantic Branch awaiting pickup from WONR. The 4004 is the former NYSW 4002, and one of the better looking standard cab B40s on the roster, in my humble opinion.

While I shot in Holden just a few days prior, I thought there might be another angle to be had in the small New England town. As it turns out, I was right! WOGR rolls through a very cluttered view of Holden, with the proper leader crossing Sunnyside Ave. This will be my Christmas post for 2019 as I’ll be fairly busy the next couple days with family. So a Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and yours!

Connecticut Southern Railroad train CSO-3 has just dropped off two feed hoppers at the interchange track here destined for Crop Production Services in Scantic via the CNZR. The train is just south of the Route 194 /Sullivan Ave. crossing at MP 6 on the old New Haven Armory Branch that once served as a roundabout thru route between Hartford and Springfield east of the Connecticut River. The northern end of the line in Massachusetts is now gone, but the entirety in Connecticut remains intact operated by CSO on the southern 10 miles and the Central New England Railroad on a short portion of the state owned trackage north to the state line.

Known as the East Windsor Industrial Track in Conrail days, Railtex acquired CR's Hartford Cluster in 1996 and created the CSO to operate the freight trains via trackage rights on Amtrak's Springfield Line and the connecting branch lines and industrial tracks. Having switched out the Home Depot distribution center on the way they ran as far as this point and are now done with all their customer work for the day. They are just about to start back south to the junction with the Manchester Secondary (the one time Hartford, Providence and Fishkill mainline) in East Hartford where they will turn west to cross the Connecticut River on their way back to the CSO's operations base in the old New Haven Windsor Street yard to call it a day and start their weekend.

The little train now consists of just PW B23-7R 2215 on the south end, two empties and NECR 3855 on the rear. She was built as a straight GP38 in Aug. 1969 as GMO 718 and is now one of only four blue and gold painted NECR units left in service anywhere, albeit not on her adopted 'home rails.'

On our vacation to the New Brunswick we were visiting this old farm and found these three beautiful kittens in the barn. They were so friendly we wanted to take them home.

On Sunday morning we had an escorted tour of the P&W engine facility in Worcester, MA. 4301 is a former FEC SD70M-2 100 that has been repainted in the classy P&W scheme. Another unit was in the paint shop. Modifications to allow operation on the NEC include lowering the numberboards and moving the horn to the side of the long hood. The Photoshop "pole removal tool" was used in processing this image.

Beeeeeeeeee! Look, it's a beeeee! I decided to use my Lensbaby to take my pictures again today, but this time I also attached my macro filters. I was determined to get a good Lensbaby macro shot...and I think I pulled it off!

Ok, in all seriousness, this shot was a little terrifying to execute. I was taking pictures of cherry blossoms and I heard buzzing ALL around me in the tree above my head. That part didn't really bother me, since I know that bees don't really care about people as long as they are left alone. What scared me is when I got the idea to take a macro picture of a BEE, and ended up having my face mere inches from it. This lens is not at all like my Canon 100mm macro, where you can stand reaaaaally far away from your subject and still get a super close shot; oh noooo, I soon discovered that you have to get up close and personal with your subject to get a true macro shot.

SO I DID, and it was totally worth it. I had to focus my Lensbaby and track this little dude while he flitted about his business. with my camera trained on him, and I had to quickly manual focus each time.

I think I've pulled off something special with these two shots. Maybe not special in the photographic world, but a milestone for me nonetheless. *Proud*

This next theme for PW was "elements" I know i didn't do one for air, but the dress looked odd in white.

Each dress is 90L, but you can get all 3 for 200.

I thought it was a great price since there are a ton of dresses out there for ONE colors thats over 200, so why not get 3 colors for the 200 instead? :P

Technically the new round does not start till monday, but my item is out now!
