Psí kostel u Sloupu
Die Gegend um Bürgstein (Sloup v Čechách) ist für ihre Höhlen bekannt. Obwohl direkt neben der Straße gelegen, ist die sogenannte Hundskirche (Psí kostel) dabei vielleicht eine eher weniger besuchte Höhle. Der ungewöhnliche Name ist wahrscheinlich eine Abschleifung von "pustý" kostel, also "Wüster Kirche". Dieser Name ist auch für die unterirdischen Hohlräume bei Zwitte (Svitava) gebräuchlich, wo man ebenfalls die pittoresken Pfeiler vorfindet, die beim Abbau von Sand für die Glasherstellung entstanden sind. Weshalb man sich bei der Hundskirche veranlasst sah, bei eigentlich recht geringer Wandhöhe und nicht allzu großer Tiefe überhaupt in den Tiefbau überzugehen, erscheint etwas unklar. Möglicherweise wurde die Höhle aber auch nachträglich durch eine Erweiterung des Steinbruchbetriebs aufgebrochen, so dass heute nur ihr Randbereich als Hohlraum erhalten blieb. Es bietet sich mit den durch die Pfeiler gebildeten "Portalen" ein sehr schönes Motiv, welches in der Tat an das Seitenschiff einer gotischen Kirche einnert.

Our position, orbiting Psi 2000. An ancient world, now a frozen wasteland about to rip apart, in its death throes. Our mission - pick up a scientific party below, observe the disintegration of the planet.

The science party we were to have picked up has been found dead. Life support systems had been turned off. Station personnel frozen to death. Conditions highly unusual. Meanwhile, we remain in orbit to complete our mission - close scientific measurement of the break-up of this planet.

Our orbit - tightening. Our need for efficiency - critical. But unknown to us, a totally new and unusual disease has been brought aboard.
