My dear long term friend Peter Sage died unexpectedly, suddenly, peacefully in June 2020. I have decided to display his skill as a photographer and show his involvement in my life. Some may already be on this photostream. Clyde Shoebridge at Cook in South Australia on 29 December 1963.

The Panavia Tornado is a family of twin-engine, variable-sweep wing multirole combat aircraft jointly developed and manufactured by the UK, Germany, and Italy. There are three primary Tornado variants, including the Tornado IDS (interdictor/strike) fighter-bomber, the Tornado ECR (electronic combat/reconnaissance) SEAD aircraft, and the Tornado ADV (air defence variant) interceptor aircraft. The Tornado was developed and built by Panavia Aircraft GmbH, a tri-national consortium of British Aerospace (previously British Aircraft Corporation), MBB of West Germany, and Aeritalia of Italy. This multirole aircraft was intended to replace several aircraft fleets in the adopting air forces.
In this image, the first Tornado prototype, P01, sits on the apron at Manching outside Ingolstadt, West Germany. The Tornado prototype first flew on 14 August 1974 with no serious issues. The Tornado flew well, but there were a few modifications needed to the engine intakes and fuselage to reduce surging and buffeting at supersonic speeds. Fifteen development aircraft were produced (nine prototypes, P01 to P09, and six pre-series, PS11 to PS16), and test flights were flown in Germany, Italy, and the UK.
