ꒌ ﹏﹏ ПРЕДВЕЧЕРЈЕ ЈЕДНОГ ТОПЛОГ, касног мајског дана.
Некад су овде биле клупе. Tата ме доводио овамо, пре 63 године. Становали смо уопште не далеко. Куповао ми је виршле са сенфом у земички, и онда бисмо ту седели док не поједем. Понекад би ми куповао још једну земичку, обично је нудио, можда сам некад и тражио. Понекад ми се мало подсмевао због мог великог апетита за виршле. Назвао ме због тога ”виршличарем”. Био сам премали да ми то смета. А и касније, сматрао сам да има довољан ауторитет за то, и да је једино што ја треба да урадим, да му верујем.
Такве виршле више не постоје. Нигде.
Једно време сам пратио развој ситуације око ПКБ-киоска. У неком тренутку (1970-их?) нестало је виршли непоновљивог укуса. Затим и тих малих кобасица (почетак 1980-их?). Онда и земички. У једном тренутку промењен је власник. Неко је очигледно сматрао да ПКБ није за сам центар града. Што је изазвало мој дубоки унутрашњи протест! Пун немоћи. До релативно скоро, киоск је имао општу намену трафике.
Коначно, киоск је склоњен. Цела површина сада је голо-ћосава. Као и трг, уосталом. Да ли се још неко сећа киоска? ПКБ виршли? Нестале су и елегантне клупе. Можда више нема народа који уме да седи на клупама?
И сам парк је изгубио онај свој основни изглед и уређеност. Невероватно, али логично је да се унутрашње стање народа одражава на његовом станишту.
—Када би ова девојчица знала шта је осећао човек који је баш на том месту стајао у њеном узрасту пре 63 године, за којег ни не зна да је слика у том страшно кратком а можда ипак вечном тренутку… којем неки тренуци са његовим оцем трају вечно али су далеко… када би овај отац (Рашид, из Русије) знао то што ја знам.. и када би ми сви знали оно што сада зна само мој отац (Раце, из Краљевине СХС)! Којем се тако силно надам у наредном животу…
► █░▓ ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ IF SHE KNEW what i almost don’t know for sure any more… But I do, yes I do, it’s just that I can’t bring it back as vivid as it used to be. But it is as truthful as ever... The moments with my father here. Ten, twenty meters from here to the left there was a booth, a white PKB kiosk with first fast food in Belgrade. Pa would ask me if I wanted hotdog or sausages, wrapped in a small but firm oblong bun. I would choose hotdog, mostly. The lady in the kiosk would ask my father if I needed some mustard. That was my favourite. The hotdog was of a short length, a pair fitted precisely within the bun, and was indescribably yummy.
Then we would walk back to this place where the girls stands and sit on the bench until I would finish the hotdog. I was her age or a year or two older, and I passionately fancied the hotdog. My pa would sometimes laugh at me for that. But seeing how much I liked it, he would buy me another one, which I never turned down.
I used to check the existence of that kiosk, dearly preserving the memory. The source of tastes long forgotten in our rampantly dystopian semi-artificial reality couldn't last forever. At one moment they had no hotdog any more; on another instance the sausages were gone; then the owner changed; finally, the kiosk vanished altogether. I lost track of the years, but how relevant are the time measurements anyway?
Those elegant park benches are long gone too. The tiny park area has acquired a wilder, vulgar, neglected quality. So I am left with my memories only. And the encounters of current life. Somebody knows Rashid from Russia and his daughter in Belgrade? Let me know.
I wonder what kind of an odd coincidence it was that I was gazing at this girl, the same age as myself 63 years ago? What made me think of the things that are there (somewhere!) and you can’t bring them back. We were all there – me, the child, its father, the park, Belgrade and my (and Rashid's) memories. Badly missing in this encounter was only the most important one, my late father.
If the afterlife is without him, I don’t want the afterlife.
But I know we can’t choose. Oh, Lord, please don’t let the death separate us!
