Alongside the cicadas, the other harbingers of summer here, in the flora world, are Agapanthus and Lilly Pillys. In our little Close, six out of the eleven houses have agapanthus sprouting everywhere, just like hairs from an old man's ears! I think I'm getting FOMO—of the aggies, not the nose hairs!
The massive Lilly Pilly in our backyard starts flowering big time in summer, attracting thousands of bees. However, this year, despite it being in full bloom, there are no bees, which is a bit disconcerting. We all know how essential bees are to us, the tireless pollinators, supporting the growth of plants, crops, and ecosystems that sustain life on Earth. I hope they show up soon!
And if you're wondering what a Lilly Pilly is, Wikipedia advises that it is a summer-flowering, winter-fruiting evergreen tree, native to Australia and belonging to the myrtle family. This shot is just one of the tiny little flowers of which there are thousands.

One of the few tors we came across during our Dartmoor hike last weekend. We decided to have our picnic up there but soon realised that the area was busy with swarms of garden chafers. The beetles were incredibly confrontational and also started nibbling on anything they landed on, including our skin!
We cut the picnic short and had another one at Buckland-in-the-Moor ;-)

hola....notizie...il Pil sempre più basso, vicino allo zero, che dire? Che secondo il nostro amato premier bisogna essere ottimisti, così da domani pane e ottimismo, al bar un ottimismo corretto, al ristorante una mezza porzione di ottimismo che oggi sono un po' pieno, al super "me da due etti di ottimismo vicino all'osso che lo preferisco?"
Zomberos, siamo messi proprio male, e li farei venire un giorno da me ai nostri politici per far loro toccare la crisi con mano, col telefono che non squilla più se non per chi deve chiedere soldi, con i magazzini vuoti, con la cartella ordini anoressica, e ci parlano di ottimismo?
Ma andassero AFFANCULO!
