A series of 10 pics (see previous) of a man from Italy who owns a restaurant in Aiken, SC! He was so much fun!! I was able to stop in his restaurant on Wed to drop of a disc with these pics and he and his girlfriend are so gracious!! I have made new friends and since I have to go to Aiken a couple times a year for work - it will be nice to be able to see them again!! If you're ever in Aiken, SC - stop in at Roma's Italian Restaurant on Whisky Road and tell them Tina sent you!!!
Finally, I came to the National Gardens in Athens. This place is pretty big. I really like how the nature was structured here, forming a kind of tunnel over the paths and passageways. It almost reminded me of the Tunnel of Love in Ukraine in a way. It is very peaceful here and because of the weather, there wasn't that many people here. After visiting the National Gardens, I also paid a quick stop at the Greek Parliament building which is literally next to the National Garden. However, I was late when the changing of the guard took place and there were quite a few people there watching.
I took a guided tour to Delphi and bus ride from Athens was about 2 hours and 30 minutes. We stopped at a little town where got out to stretch out our legs, buy bottled water, and eat a few snacks before continuing our scenic route to Delphi. Once we arrived, our tour guide showed us several ancient ruins of Delphi. She showed us the treasury where the Greek city states would come in and put their treasure, gold, and money as part of an offering to the Greek god Apollo. We also saw the remains of Apollo's temple, theatre, and stadium. Then we had a short tour of the nearby museum. After having lunch, we saw the remains of the Oracle before returning to Athens.
