The Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) Test. AMH is produced by the reproductive tissues. The level is low for females at birth. However, the ovaries begin producing AMH after puberty with its level depending on the egg reserve of a woman.

Your doctor is likely to order an AMH test if you have trouble getting pregnant. A value greater than 2 ng/mL indicates normal reserve of eggs whereas a lower amount is a sign of diminishing ovarian reserve (DOR). Your fertility doctor will be able to get the following information from the level of AMH in your blood:-

1) It provides the real picture about ovarian reserve i.e. the number of follicles left in your body

2) It provides the possibility of multiple egg retrieval during ART

3) Positive response to IVF medication can be discovered from AMH levels

4) Diagnosis of PCOS

5) Reason for amenorrhea (no menstruation)

6) Chance of pregnancy after iVF

PCOD vs PCOS both are the same? Many women use both PCOD and PCOS interchangeably when both are very different conditions. Although both conditions involve the ovaries and both cause hormonal disruption, there are many significant differences.

All women have two ovaries, which alternately release eggs each month. These ovaries also produce female hormones that are responsible for many things, such as fertility, menstruation schedule, facial hair, etc., besides them, they also produce androgens or male hormones, but in very small amounts.

PCOD is a condition in which the ovaries contain many immature or partially mature eggs. They eventually turn into cysts. Unhealthy food, excess weight, stress and hormonal imbalances cause this condition. Common symptoms of PCOD are irregular menstruation, abdominal weight gain, infertility, and male pattern hair loss. With this problem, the ovaries usually increase in size and secrete large amounts of androgens, which damage a woman's fertility and her body.

PCOS is a metabolic disorder that is more serious than PCOS. In this condition, the ovaries produce more male hormones, which leads to the formation of more than ten follicular cysts in the ovary every month. This stops the release of the egg, resulting in anovulation. Symptoms include hair loss, obesity, and infertility.

In both cases, i.e. PCOD VS PCOS, losing weight, following a healthy diet that did not contain processed and unhealthy foods, and following regular exercise, the schedule showed tremendous improvements. It is imperative to catch the disease as soon as possible in order to control the damage with the right lifestyle changes and medications. If you have irregular periods, acne, or excessive facial hair growth, you need to get yourself tested.
