My last day at work before the Xmas break was sunny so I went to the park at lunchtime. As always there were plenty of squirrels searching for food.

Capitol Reef National Park is one of the lessor visited parks in Utah but in my opinion still very scenic.
When we stopped at the visitor center, I saw this cool picture of this old barn up on one of the walls. I thought it made a great composition so I had to capture it.
Luckily it's only a mile or 2 down from the visitor center at the Gifford Homestead.
Per the National Park service website... The original home was built in 1908 by polygamist Calvin Pendleton. He and his family occupied it for eight years. The original house had a combined front room/kitchen and two small bedrooms. An outside ladder accessed two upstairs bedrooms. Pendleton also constructed the barn and smokehouse, as well as the rock walls near the house and on the mesa slopes above it.
Wishing all my Flickr friends a very Happy Thanksgiving!

The lighting this morning at Glacier National Park was amazing, as some bright splotches of golden light broken though stormy skies following an impressive lightning storm. I thought the storm was going to prevent my boat trip and Grinnell Glacier hike from happening, but the storm cleared up just in time.
Yesterday it hit 58F here in NJ, and yet it started snowing at the early hrs. this morning @32F now. Glad it's soft snow, just covered the trees and hedges, no need to shovel. It is so beautiful out there, that I had to make a trip to our local county park.
Waterton Lakes National Park is a national park located in the southwest corner of Alberta, Canada. It borders Glacier National Park in Montana, United States. Waterton Park is a blend of unusual geology, mild climate, rare wild flowers, and an abundance of wildlife. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an International Peace Park, and a Biosphere Reserve! The only park in the world that has these three designations! It was cloudy and raining day, the photo was taken around the entrance part of the Waterton Park.
St. James' park is very close to Buckingham Palace. It will be busy with visitors this weekend as UK celebrates the Queen's Jubilee.
Basildon Park is a country house situated 2 miles south of Streatley in Berkshire. It is owned by the National Trust and is a Grade I listed building. The house was built between 1776 and 1783 for Sir Francis Sykes and designed by John Carr in the Palladian style at a time when Palladianism was giving way to the newly fashionable neoclassicism. Thus, the interiors are in a neoclassical "Adamesque" style.
Today, Basildon Park is as notable for its mid-twentieth-century renaissance and restoration, by Lord and Lady Iliffe, as it is for its architecture. In 1978, the Iliffes gave the house, together with its park and a large endowment for its upkeep, to the National Trust in the hope that "The National Trust will protect it and its park for future generations to enjoy."

Great Falls Park, Virginia. Great Falls Park is a small National Park Service (NPS) site in Virginia, United States. Situated on 800 acres (3.2 km2) along the banks of the Potomac River in northern Fairfax County, the park is a disconnected but integral part of the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The Great Falls of the Potomac River are near the northern boundary of the park, as are the remains of the Patowmack Canal, the first canal in the United States that used locks to raise and lower boats.
