Believed in the middle ages to have been a palace, perhaps built by Charlemagne, this is in fact the remains of a Roman amphitheatre from the 3rd century.

(It was overcast and wet, the original photos were dull and flat, so I had a play and it all got a bit 'Houses of the Holy'. And I kinda like 'em like this.)

Le Palais des Beaux Arts conçu par Victor Horta a été construit entre 1922 et 1929 dans le style Art déco, au n° 23 rue Ravenstein à Bruxelles. Le bâtiment de style monumental, tout en pierre bleue, a été influencé par l’architecture de Frank Lloyd Wright que Horta avait rencontré durant son séjour aux Etats-Unis. Composé de plusieurs salles de concert, d’expositions, de restaurants, le Palais des Beaux Arts, appelé aujourd’hui BOZAR, est un pôle artistique pluridisciplinaire majeur de la capitale berge, reconnu dans le monde entier (cf. www.admirable-facades.brussels et merci pour la photo).

I received a lovely note from Meatball's mom...she sent photos and an update!

Dear Sherrie:

As I am thankful to you for taking such wonderful care of Meatball, I am happy to report that he has a new and very special best friend. In November, we adopted a 4 month special needs kitten from the Castaway Critters, an all foster rescue organization. Our kitten, Jingle, was born with cerebellar hypoplasia, the same disorder that affects Shy and Chrissy. He and Meatball sleep together, groom each other and Meatball enjoys all the kitten's new toys. (The Turbo scratcher and collapsible cubes are his favorites.) Although Meatball, the cowardly lion as I call him, has the the courage to leave the basement playroom to explore, he actually still prefers and retreats to the basement. Even though he is disabled, Jingle still has the mind of a kitten but his body/motor skills can't keep up. So at night for safety, Jingle and Meatball sleep in the basement playroom.

This lovely carved pipe belonged to my late maternal grandfather Thomas Edward McAvoy. It is one of a handful of keepsakes I have by which to remember him. The pipe depicts the head of an Indian with a monkey on his back.

This is my Maru Min Pals doll. She has a beautiful face, but her back and behind don't look right to me.

It looks like her behind is too flat and her back is sunken in. Her ears are not very detailed, but she is still a pretty doll.
