Icy stars or flowers, I froze 10 liters of water in a bucket overnight, at night it was freezing around -20c and in the morning the water had frozen enough. I also put few tulips in the bucket to give colors to the ice lantern. As the water froze, small patterns formed on the surface of the ice, nature's wonderful art.

I woke up with about three hours of sleep after the shooting the Milky Way until 2am and was laying there thinking with the clear skies overnight it would be good to skip the cloudless sunrise and get a few more minutes of sleep ... but then I looked out the window of the car and saw pink clouds overhead.
It took tons of effort to get my shoes on and gather the camera to get out quickly for the sunrise there at Bear Rocks. Everything ached ... but the pretty sunrise was calling to me and my camera.
Yesterday ...overnight rains were still falling at sunrise . Finally...about an hour after sunrise ....the rain let up ...and walkers in a park were able to enjoy the freshness & peace of a beautiful September morning . The rains had brought down many leaves ....adding to the autumnal feeling in the park ....

Peak District isn't a place I have visited before and having few days off staying overnight in Sheffield and got up super early and very unsociable hours to see if I could get a sunrise here.
Tried out the sunrise/sunset firecrest filter for when the sun came up certainly an interesting filter plus a 0.9 firecrest graduated filter the position here most of the way down, and which helped in getting the type of skies I like to see. could have taken bracketed my shots and when I do quite often only use the best to process from.

I had posted my last shot at Sabula a day before I was heading out in that direction again, with the allure of finding some storms. Overnight, Bensenville had sent out the 7021 on 253 to Nahant, but, for some reason, was still in Savanna around 1300. A crew hopped on, right before the storms rolled in, and it was time to begin work.
Unbeknownst to me as well as many others, 253 had been annulled there, and the power had been assigned to K39 for Mason City. Here, they had just finished dropping the Nahant traffic on Main 2 east of West Savanna, and are crossing back over the river (for the third time) to begin work at the siding around CP Island/Lake.
The skies chose the best possible time to open up.

It's possible to stay overnight in this village, it's not easy though, cars stop where I took the photo, all food and luggage must be carried up from this point, that part was definitely not fun. Night versions coming soon.
Bingley becomes a winter wonderland..unless you were stuck in the traffic for hours. The snow has broken many branches off the still-leaf-covered-trees. A morning walk of great sanity to avoid the news.
Well we did get some snow but not on my house. We had to drive North of the South downs to find. So I have a number of images to show with a panorama tomorrow, glad we went out early as by eleven am it had started to rain and by midday it had all but gone.
This is Wilton park near Washington in Sussex the house is Wiston house which is a 16th century grade 1 listed house surrounded by 6,ooo acres of The South downs National Park.

It was a complete surprise to wake up to snow-covered scenes this morning. It's not a lot compared to many places in the world, but it is a rare sight here. Happy Fence Friday.

After an overnight snowfall in the city, in the following morning I went to a big garden in the center of my town, with my first reflex camera.
This is one of those photos, kept for many years before digitizing it.
The emulsion of the print and the years have worked on it giving now, an image with vintage tones.

Go into May, but there was a feeling that snow has become less, it was covered with new snow in yesterday's rain.
We had a lovely, breezy, sunny, freezing walk beside the seaside at Hillhead yesterday.
But I cannot think anyone would want to sleep overnight in any of these options.....

Aspen, scrub oak, and grasses arrayed in autumn colors adorn the hillsides above Capitol Creek in the Elk Range. Cold air that settled overnight carries ground fog upslope as the morning air is stirred by the warmth of the sunlight. A bit of fresh snow is visible on the upper ridges, a remnant of the first significant winter storm.
