Had to chase this one down for a bit. Love the affect though. Also enjoyed the fact that the heater in the car was blasting on me. It was fricken cold in them thar mountains! I slept with mittens on so that should give you some indication.

Crazy accident down some windy roads. Our driver was super sick this day... but he held out and got us got us to camp safely.

Kia Ora Hut - our favourite overnight stay of the walk. This cosy hut only had 12 or so of us in it and turned out to be a great night. The only night of the hike we stayed up past dark (which is quite an effort on a hike - no electricity!) to play cards and talk shit.

 

It was here at Kia Ora that we really got to know our new friends from the hike. The setting is just beautiful.
