Entlang der Ostküste Richtung Süden - Along the east coast to the south
• Berufjörður liegt im Süden der Ostfjorde Islands. Er ist etwa 35 Kilometer lang und an der breitesten Stelle fünf Kilometer breit.
• Berufjörður is located in the south of Iceland's East Fjords. It is about 35 kilometers long and at its widest point five kilometers wide.
Northern Lights in the East Fjords of Iceland
The East Fjords are a dramatic coastline of narrow fjords, jagged peaks, and tiny fishing villages. This region is significantly less crowded than the South Coast, offering a more tranquil and "authentic" Icelandic experience. We were very lucky to see the Northern Lights one evening.

When puffins return from their dives and have delivered their prey to their offspring in the burrows, a round of cleaning is urgently required before they start hunting again...
"Now you get wet on land too," this puffin seems to be saying. It shouldn't bother him too much as these animals spend most of the year out in the open ocean. They only come ashore to breed...
Wasserfälle, Island, 2021
Auf der Fahrt entlang der Ringstraße rund um die Ostfjorde begegnet man immer wieder Wasserfällen. Dieser Kaskaden waren aber schon außergewöhnlich.

On the drive along the ring road around the East Fjords, one encounters waterfalls again and again. But this cascade was already extraordinary.

A small idyll, one you'd expect to find in Norway, can be found at the Mjóeyri Cottages in Eskifjörður, a side fjord of Reyðarfjörður, one of Iceland's Eastfjords: a few red cottages stand on a small headland, with steep, rugged mountains rising in the background. In summer, the region is very prone to fog, and I had to wait a long time before the mountain became slightly visible...
We found this beautiful scenery at the intersection of Roads 944 and 94 in the Valley of the River of Jökulsá á Dal on our way to Bakkagerdi .
The view goes over the Valley of Hjaltastadathinghá to the Mountains that form the Eastern Fjords.
These are the Mountains of Hnausar and Grjótfall in the Eastern Fjords of Iceland.
We came back to this beautiful Place after we have been here on our last trip to Iceland in 2013 and found it to be a very special place to be.
It is situated in the Eastern Fjords of Iceland, which are by now mostly unknown to to touristic mainstream and therefore remain quite original.
