I have wanted to photograph this arch for quite some time, but to really get a good view of the arch, you need to go at low tide. On this day, the timing and tides were on my side, so I picked my way through the tide pools to get this perspective. The seagull was nice enough to photobomb the shot...

That used to be a good sized fig, but this Swinhoe's White-eye has made quick work of it. It had its mate to help with the effort. I'm not a big fan of figs, so essentially we grow them for the benefit of our backyard visitors. The irony of providing an introduced fruit to an introduced species makes me feel like I'm part of the cosmic "lattice of interconnecting coincidences".
nrhp # 74000241- The Howe Covered Bridge is a historic covered bridge carrying Belknap Brook Road across the White River in Tunbridge, Vermont, just east of Vermont Route 110. Built in 1879, it is one of five surviving bridges in the town, one of the highest concentrations of covered bridges in the state. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

At the time, I thought the egrets were ornery and only fighting with each other, but later looking at the photos, it was obvious that some of the egrets were adults feeding their young. There was a lot of fighting, too, however.
