Windows of Opportunity is a macro photograph of a Ficus leaf. This version blended the black and white version with the original, which was photographed on a light box.. A filter was added at 15 percent opacity to warm the leaf up a little bit. I will be off for two weeks starting tomorrow! Have a creative fortnight!
I came upon a serendipity moment the other morning as I noticed a perfect little window in the trees that let in the light & gave me a peak at the world beyond. This little window was created by Mother Nature and luckily I had my camera handy so that I could capture the magic while it lasted. I call this a window of opportunity.
We finally got some snow! I took the opportunity to visit O'Bannon to celebrate and get some snowy shots. Unfortunately the mid afternoon sun was working against me. The little bit of snow (about half an inch) melted quite fast, creating scenes like this.

"Mont Fort is a mountain of the Pennine Alps, located near Verbier in the Swiss canton of Valais. It lies on the range between the valleys of Bagnes and Nendaz, north of the Rosablanche. With a height of 3,328 metres above sea level, Mont Fort is the highest summit north of the Col de Louvie (2,921 m).
Mont Fort is surrounded by several glaciers, the largest being the Glacier de Tortin, on its northwestern side. The second largest is the Glacier du Mont Fort, located on its northeastern side. On its eastern side lies the lower summit Petit Mont Fort (3,135 m). The Glacier du Petit Mont Fort lies between the two summits. There are no glaciers on the south side of the mountain. A small lake named Lac du Petit Mont Fort (2,764 m) lies on the south flank.
The summit of Mont Fort is easily accessible by cable car from the heights of Verbier or Nendaz. The cable cars from the two valleys converge at the intermediate station (2,894 m) north of the Col des Gentianes, the upper section reaching a height of 3,308 metres. In the winter and early spring season, the mountain, including the Glacier de Tortin, is the culminating point of the 4 Vallées ski area.

Every spring we look forward to returning storks. This wait is interesting and memorable. He flies first, then she does. We have the opportunity to observe their life until the autumn. In the autumn we escort them, in the spring we look forward to returning...

TURN A DIFFICULTY INTO A NEW OPPORTUNITY
Preparation met opportunity today. I had cut out these leaves hoping for a beautiful sky, and lucky for me, it all came together. Today is all about carving pumpkins and trick-or-treating. Be well and be safe.
PS - dried leaves don't cut as well as soft, pliable leaves.
What a great opportunity to see this well known couple first thing on our visit to Seney Wildlife Refuge. They've apparently been together since 1997, making the annual 3,000 mile migratory trip returning to Seney each year. Here's a great article on the couple:

The flooded meadows of the Assebroekse Meersen offered me unique photo opportunities on a January afternoon, when the sun was setting and a storm came rolling in! [Explored on 25/03/2023, #124 AND on 25/05/2023 in the Light and Shadows Takeover, #304]
This is inside my husband Masonic Lodge. We took our Mexican friend there in September for a visit as he is also a Mason. I love Mid Century Mod and the light was so nice!
Before he heads to school, the little prince helps water the neighborhood plants.
Skippy smiles, noticing his fox friend, and lovingly chuckles,
"Thank you for carrying my book bag. You're a great friend!"
The little prince and his fox enjoy helping others and are very grateful to Soy for helping to inspire this scene.
You can find Soy's latest beautifully detailed collection
called Shitamachi Alley Garden at the Arcade!
In addition, almost everything else you see here was also
created by the very talented Soy!
You can pick up many of the items at Soy’s Main Store!
Keep lifting one another up and making the world a kinder and more welcoming place for all!
LUCKY OPPORTUNITY to photograph one of these Slim and Savage predators, active by day and night, it relentlessly tracks down its prey by scent. It often kills prey more than twice its size, biting deeply into the neck.
Captured at Elmley Nature Reserve in Kent.

THANK YOU for your visit and friendship. Please leave a comment, and I will try to do the same for your latest posting.
Keep safe and well, God bless

Things have been a bit manic in the last two weeks, but I finally got the opportunity to get out and hobble to the Woods to catch the "wild garlic" before they get past there sell-by date.
The aroma of garlic as I got out of the car was unbelievably strong, with it being a still evening. I managed to get a little late light to filter through the woods and came away with some nice shots. This is the path leading into the woods, which I thought was worthy of a post! My left leg is still badly swollen and painful but the exercise walking around this enchanted woodland was great therapy.

A few miles south of Brownsville where all the tundra swans were staging, sandhill cranes were piling into Pool Slough, another premier wetland complex with excellent waterfowl viewing opportunities. I could see about 100 sandhill cranes from where I was standing and there were many more scattered throughout the vast refuge. These sandhill cranes will feed and rest here until things really freeze up and force them south to their wintering territory in Florida.
In Parkes, NSW, for the David Malin Awards, I was told the normal floodlighting on The Dish radio telescope would be turned off to allow a timelapse to be made for the CSIRO. I hadn't planned to shoot The Dish as many others already have, but without the excess lighting, and given I didn't find a better site I thought I should try. Sigma lens, processed in Lightroom.
Towards the sun but conveniently (with a few side steps from me) positioned between two conifers this Kestrel presented something of an unusual opportunity
Not classic photography
But different photography
And I'm always interested in something different!
“If you learn to really sit with loneliness and embrace it for the gift that it is…an opportunity to get to know YOU, to learn how strong you really are, to depend on no one but YOU for your happiness…you will realize that a little loneliness goes a LONG way in creating a richer, deeper, more vibrant and colorful YOU.”

This is a traditional Yorkshire fishing vessel called a "Coble" that once fished out of Scarborough..It now lies in a semi-derelict state at South Ferriby on the banks of the River Humber,
This Barn Owl was perched on the post behind the tree making it difficult to get a good angle for a shot, when a brief gust of wind moved the branches allowing me to capture this photo, hence the title.
The sparrowhawk is surely one of the UK's most striking raptors.
Unfortunately this male's own strike was far from successful and his chosen prey had long since fled when I took this shot.

Many thanks to all those who take the time to comment on my photos. It is truly appreciated.
A rare opportunity to ask questions from the team. They look eager to help, don`t they?

Staircase in a hotel in Prague, where the ground floor furnishing offered the opportunity for an unusual composition ;-)
When I was sent to Battle Creek to work nights for a couple days a few years ago when they were cutting over CP Baron, I wanted to visit the small farm town of Bellevue about 10 miles east of the yard. The perfect opportunity presented itself in the form of a pair of barns on A451. After snaking my way through the god-awful twisting roads in that area, it wasn't long before the pair came out of the dark and passed the classic mill in the heart of town that seems to be the victim of an eccentric painter.
On August 15, I had the opportunity to go out with Peter Stahl in his boat to look for the waterfowl that stay far out from the shore.
We found a flock of about 10 Surf Scoters. The lone male is in the center of my photo. I am guessing that we came across a family group. They breed in a few isolated areas in Alberta.
The juveniles and females look similar. I don't have the field experience to distinguish juveniles from adult females.
This was my only decent shot taken from a rocking boat.

This is my take on this year's Uncommon Common art installation in Grand Pre, Nova Scotia. It was designed and erected by Nicole Evans and Patrick Farrell.
Explored on September 22nd, 2015. Highest position #148.
When opportunity knocks on your door, always be willing to take a chance, because you never know how perfect something could turn out to be.

I thought I saw a person working on a farm in the footpath, but in fact it was someone waiting a photo opportunity.😆

It only takes a bit of rain and snow in the high peaks of Death Valley and Badwater basin will partially flood. It's a great opportunity to make images with nice reflections. You just have to hike a ways to find the water.

A great opportunity to shoot moon when its full and traveling between the overcast. A bit difficult to set the exposure as the light changes every other second. Too much and you will loose details and too little then you won't get the clouds. Also since the moon is constantly on the move, you cannot do bracketing and later merge as you will get a slight motion and won't get a perfect merge. And I hate photoshopping anything that ain't there on the photograph. So the best option is to take multiple shots and hope one does come out with all details you would want in the shot!
Thanks for your favorites and comments, I highly appreciate them!
