Negli Stati Uniti, ma anche in Inghilterra, Nuova Zelanda, Australia e Giappone, i cittadini hanno già accesso a molti dati pubblici. Da quei dati, ora che possediamo strumenti in grado di interpretarli e metterli in relazione, discende una nuova forma di cittadinanza e di democrazia e la creazione di nuovi mercati.

Un numero crescente di governi sta comprendendo le opportunità di far leva sull’innovazione e sulla diffusione delle informazioni e della conoscenza, approfittando proprio della crisi economica globale.

L’Italia non rientra ancora tra i Paesi che hanno impostato una strategia unitaria e sistematica in materia di Open Gov, sicuramente a causa di difficoltà di ordine normativo, ma anche per resistenze culturali.

Nel corso dell'incontro, che vedrà la partecipazione di autorevoli esponenti delle istituzioni, saranno affrontate le cause che frenano l'adozione di politiche Open nel nostro Paese e si proverà a proporre soluzioni operative per passare, appunto, dalle parole ai fatti.

"The Tech We Want to Open Governments" was an official side event to the Open Government Partnership (OGP)'s Global Summit, organised by Open Knowledge Foundation (OKFN), Open Knowledge Estonia (OKEE) and Open Knowledge Finland (OKFI), with the sponsorship of Link Digital and the National Foundation of Civil Society (NFCS) in Estonia.

By bringing together experts and practitioners from around the world, The Tech We Want to Open Governments provided a platform for discussing the future of the open movement, with a focus on transparency and ways to strengthen it.
